Just make the kind of music that YOU want to hear.

Well if it was up to me i would ONLY make kinda classical DnB. You know violins and chello's with a grimy DnB bass and crazy drums. But then i would become predictble and all my songs would sound the same :(

Like this one!

Not a very good example but still nice! I made a better version imo in my Album.

Golden advice. Good music starts with a unique sense of style.

what he said. because that's what i would do. if people don't like it, it's their loss, not yours.

Don't pay attention to the "same effects that everyone else is using" or the "get samples no one has ever heard" dribble. Seriously, NG is full of producers who cannot listen to a piece of music without deconstructing every little piece 24/7 rather than just listening to the music. If someone wants a critique of how they should do this or that, then by all means give them a run-down of the intricacies of FX chanining or the overusage of Vengeance sample packs. This is an album thread relating to the release of YourIX's first album. If you don't like his music, then be polite and tell him "sorry, it just didn't work for me...but here's something you did correctly", rather than "I hated it, and you have no imagination with effects".

I thought the album had an overall good theme and sound. I do agree the mixing and the mastering needs a bit of work, but this is a really solid first self-released album. I've heard far worse mixing, mastering and composition on underground, small-label releases which sold rather than being free.

I thought Daughter of Justice II was the best track on the album for the simple fact that it has a great intro, strong build and fairly good mixing of the instrumentation. I did think that the implementation of the break was a bit of a letdown of the energy which was built by the intro. Having the break kick in faster and bringing back the elements of the intro after it kicked in would have made the track that much more hyped up before moving to the orchestral movement in the latter part of the track.

Overall good album. Work on mixing for clarity, mastering a full album to make it coalesce better, and your next one should be great.

Hey that is really a good eye opener. Because i myself also have seen poorley produced albums that where sold! Heck ive seen free albums that where bad. But in general i myself liked my own album alot! I listen to it, almost evereyday sounds a bit crazy but true. But i noticed also that some atists on NG dont really listen to the song but take a really big telescope to find mistakes that people would normally never look at!

And about making music i like yeah i'll make sure to do that!!

Also MH16 i credited you in the album for our collabed song! Just read the TXT file ;)

Waiting for it to download, and I can't wait to see what it's like. Hopefully it will be good enough to put on my iPod. I'll totally come back with my opinion once I get a nice listen.
Heres to this album! <3

So just feel like throwing out that I am passionately in love with track 2. Love love love~ <3 <3

One thing I'm having a problem with though is the tempo throughout the files. They all seem to be carrying the same amount of timing with now slows or speeds. I saw some pauses (which was a nice effect) but I think you could also try different tempos and paces. It would make your music different and you could learn a lot.
One more thing. Although not a big one, I would love to see some of the tracks longer. C= I was really getting into some when suddenly it was over! =C Kinda makes me sad. Haha.

Otherwise, I think it's great!

Good album man, I like it. once you get past some of the "flaws" of the tracks that others have mentioned, such as the hypercompression and dated sounds that you use, your pieces were overall enjoyable and had good ideas all around. Another thing you might want to work on is tuning your instruments correctly and try to aim to stay in the key (given the context) of the piece, because sometimes your music is just melodically "off", like with the pianos in the beginning of your ParagonX9 remix. My favorite tracks were "Ice Cold" and "Pure Meditation". they both have cold sounding atmospheres, and work as a good contrast one being more upbeat and the other feeling more dark and melancholic.

so keep up the good work youriX, like I said in a review I left for you its a far step up from the stuff that you first submitted to the audio portal. Hopefully for your next EP you'll be back with some fresher sounds and an expanded drum palette, as of right now you have more amens than the entire Vatican :P

If your work isn't worth fighting for, it's not worth uploading on NG, period. (JrHager84)
