Don't pay attention to the "same effects that everyone else is using" or the "get samples no one has ever heard" dribble. Seriously, NG is full of producers who cannot listen to a piece of music without deconstructing every little piece 24/7 rather than just listening to the music. If someone wants a critique of how they should do this or that, then by all means give them a run-down of the intricacies of FX chanining or the overusage of Vengeance sample packs. This is an album thread relating to the release of YourIX's first album. If you don't like his music, then be polite and tell him "sorry, it just didn't work for me...but here's something you did correctly", rather than "I hated it, and you have no imagination with effects".
I thought the album had an overall good theme and sound. I do agree the mixing and the mastering needs a bit of work, but this is a really solid first self-released album. I've heard far worse mixing, mastering and composition on underground, small-label releases which sold rather than being free.
I thought Daughter of Justice II was the best track on the album for the simple fact that it has a great intro, strong build and fairly good mixing of the instrumentation. I did think that the implementation of the break was a bit of a letdown of the energy which was built by the intro. Having the break kick in faster and bringing back the elements of the intro after it kicked in would have made the track that much more hyped up before moving to the orchestral movement in the latter part of the track.
Overall good album. Work on mixing for clarity, mastering a full album to make it coalesce better, and your next one should be great.
