I would prefer to grow up in America, since I feel that a child has the most opportunities in this nation above most others.

However, I feel like once one has reached a certain level of education and accomplishment in the US, then one should branch out to a 'paradise' country. Some place that is just exquisitely beautiful and has a stable enough economy to support a moderate lifestyle.

Personally, I would choose a warm beach someplace to call home.

Amsterdam, pretty obvious actually.

For the slow ones, because weed and prostitution are both legal.

My brother went to Norway, it's a very safe and fairly small place so maybe that is why it's so highly talked about.

Although generally people in Canberra have great lifestyles. My dad has traveled for a large portion of his life and he thinks Canberra has 'the right balance' of work and leisure to make it the best city to live in...

Wasn't Australia 2nd or 3rd on that list? It's where I live and where I'd want to live.

Adelaide seems to be more alive though. I like it, even though it has a bad reputation in those other capitals. Yeah I've lived in both Canberra and Adelaide.

Some places in Australia are full of just busy assholes, Adelaide on the other hand where I live (I switch a lot however,) is an interesting place, I'd recommend it to any other Australians or other people to visit at some point. I might even go move their sometime again for awhile.

I find it ridiculous, as I have said in the politics forum, that Australia is number 2 given its insane amounts of government censorship. And Singapore is on it? Their human rights record is not that desirable...

I'm an American, and I like it here. I might move someday, to Canada perhaps. Of course our country has major pitfalls, but I won't care about them until they start affecting me. On that day I will start saying America sucks. Until then I'll just say this: AMERICA, FUCK YEAH!

I'd have to plump for Australia. It seems to combine loads of the great things about westernised cultures like the USA and the UK and leaves out most of the bad things.

I live in Sydney and to me it's like a big American city but without the gang problems and ridiculous crime rates. And the weather is awesome, which is more than can be said for anywhere in the UK. Also there's amazing scenery and less overcrowding. And there are fuck loads of parks and open areas and nature. I live 20-30 minutes drive from the very city centre, which in a city like London would be a concrete fucking jungle, but 2 minutes walk from my house is a huge open area like a nature reserve. To be fair it is one of the nicest areas in the whole country, recently voted #16 most desirable suburb to live in, but after spending 20 years living in England I'm amazed that somewhere like this even exists. In England the nature reserve would have been bulldozed decades ago to build some crappy flats on because there's too many damn people in the country.
