Proof of that would be awesome. what seems to be true is that it leads some people to try hearder drugs, which do cause serious problems above and beyond the social problems that weed does (drop out teens, minor crime, broken families...)

you actually worked this out? if so im impressed. if not, well, lets remember that death by drug taking normally happens with a drug related accident rather than a direct effect of the drug. for example - "wow i am high... i want to climb to the roof of my house to see the pretty veiw....."

depends on context i suppose... bearing in mind most people smoke MJ mixed with tobacco... and MJ's main health effect is in the mental illnesses it increases the tendancy of.

Anyhooo... my overall opionion is that certain people take drugs (or even boast about it when they dont) as they percive it to be cool - when logically speaking putting ANY chemical into your body that shoulnt be there that has any negative effects (despite any claimed positive benefits) is blatantly stupid.

While I do think that people who brag about "doing drugs" and smoking cigarettes or drinking beer are complete idiots, I don't think smoking pot is that big of a deal at all. Not many other people care, in fact, I've known a lot of people who smoke pot who are like stoner-engineers, if you don't have something to smoke from, they'll just make something out of whatever is lying around, it's crazy. "Shit dude I don't have a piece" "It's cool, hey is that a pen over there, just lets smoke from that, do you have foil?"
