Correct me if I'm wrong, but the lighting and colours seems wrong in your picture.
It looks like the bed is more lit than the room in front of the window, the bloke's shirt I think should be a colder and desaturated colour for night time, and the fishman may need more shading, or another light source.

I can't see the major part of him/her/it because it's done in white on a mostly white background.

Try bringing more black into your piece. If you are going to use grey at all use a 50% or darker grey. That light grey doesn't read at all. Keep an example of that scarface poster open for reference. And look at it often.

The hands seem off too. Mostly the thumbs.

Johnny Utah's is hilarious, and jagondudo's is holy shit. The TIME issue one is also really creative, I like how so many people were able to think outside the box on something that required everyone to have a sort of similar entry, this is definitely having a great turnout.

no no you're absolutely right i got too caught in the toony style i neglected a lot of shading and lighting issues. i thought the hard edges and the saturated of certain colors would make the style more evident but it just looks messy i guess. forgive meh!

got another small update for you, plan on finishing up tomorrow, anything you think I should fix?

I laughed for about ten minutes at johnnyutah's entry.

If it was a gif that slowly zoomed into its eyes I'd probably piss myself.

Add spikes to the chainsaw. Looks like some slapping machine instead of a chainsaw IMO. And a few more finer details in the chainsaw holder would be cool.
