That also isn't a factor. Neither is overall weather patterns.

As an Australian, I really don't think we should be that high up.
I'm not too sure at all about the specifics of the study, but I'm guessing that our climate plays a big part of it, given that it's nearly always sunny and we have long daylight hours, but I'm not sure.

Climate isn't actually a factor. It's life-expectancy, literacy/education, and standard of living.

it is a little confusing when the countries with the least of it seem to announce things such as "democratic" and "people's republic" the most.

Norway would be nice. Nice music, Hot chicks and dudes, cold climate, secular society, and various other things. However I am an American and wouldn't be welcomed there, that and my general quick-to-anger and being a nerd would be a detrement.
I am the all the one and the master of the lulz...those who deny my mastery of lulz shall be smittin with a brick in there pants I give no mercy, no quarter, no rights.

And theirs more than that, the majority of people in Scotland didn't want to go to war. In fact Alex Salmond was one of the main people up here who tried to impeach Blair. I'm glad to know my government doesn't bend over to support Americas illegal wars.
Wow, that I didn't know. I'd definitely rather Scotland be more independent. Then democracy would be a lot more apparent. No two countries want the same thing. We both have different needs. Plus that might leave an anti-Iraq neighbour the English might listen to.

What's wrong with it? At least one can cover himself up with clothing, unlike in hot climates there is no respite from the heat.

The problem with these lists is that they only take the 3 factors mentioned earlier into account.
I want to move out of this shithole Poland. It's 41th on the list which is not that bad, but shit here is expensive and you don't earn a lot. Money aside Poland is stupid in general. Warsaw is not that bad, actually pretty cool but I guess that's it.

I don't know where my country (South Africa) is on the list but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
