Nah. Books and films are entirely different things, and while the book is pretty ace, the film is the best film ever made, and the best film that ever will be made.

I second this. I read it when I heard they where making the movie. The book is wonderful... I read it again after I saw the movie... the book was still better.

Which counts for a lot... usually I can't stand to read books based on movies I've seen. After all, I already know what happens.

The Hitchikers Guide book is the same... although the movie is damn close to the book, the books are funnier.

Ooh, another one I really want to read. Each time I go into the bookstore and I see it, I end up finding about a half-dozen other books I really want and going with those instead. :(

I read constantly, and I've read some of these more than once.

1. All Quiet on the Western Front. (Personal favorite)
2. Cirque Du Freak
3. The Pendragon Series.
4. Any of the Sherlock Holmes books.
5. A Clockwork Orange.
6. 1984.
7. Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
8. The Stand.
9. Pet Sematary.
10. The Mist.

... I could go on but those are some really great books/series. Ignore the numbers, they're all epic enough to be on the same level.

Oh definitely. Or you could try Night Vision. It has some necrophiliac stuff in it, but it gets pretty intense, and it's take of third-person is incredible. This may sound kinda weird, but you can choose whether you want the hostage-takers to win or for the hostage to get away. It's not one of those lame choose-your-own adventure books, but it's like, one chapter focuses on one side, then the next on the other, while keeping it in order, and the end will keep you up into the wee hours. It is, however, hard to find. It was written by Robert Munson, author of Fan Mail, but I don't think it was all that recognized. I found it on a dusty old shelf in the back of my library, and it looked like it had only been read once. It is, however, excellent. The necrophiliac stuff throws you off a bit, but it also explores the psychological mindset behind necrophiles. Very good stuff.

Try The Book of Five Rings, by Musashi Miyamoto. You can use it in real life situations and its something different if you want variety.

Catch-22. It's full of Catch-22's. It has everything a good book should have - big words, violence, detail, sexy women, and most of all, confusing paradoxes and mindfucks. You will enjoy it, I'm sure of it.

There is no such thing as someone who doesn't like the PS3, there is only poor people who can't afford one. PS3 owners pity you and hope you can one day get out of poverty.
