I've got quite a bit of bumfluff on my chins, nothin too serious but its noticeable, but i want a big bad boy gotti, or whatever its called, some facial hair on my chin and a moustache. And I also want long ass sideburns, so if i keep shaving these area's will they grow faster or is it just some shitty myth?

I've heard it grows in more. It'll take a while till you get a goatee though.

You should shave anyway half-developed facial hair looks retarded, wait until you can grow a real beard.

No, dumbasses just think that because the blade slices your hair so when you feel it, it feels like its more plentiful and bigger, but really its just sharper.
I twittered that I made a facebook and digged it on myspace and gaia online then on my iphone app.

Shaving has nothing to do with speed. It's thickness.

Yes, but just do it, you'll have to shave it anyway, soon you'll be shaving next to daily.

I've shaved hundreds of times. If shaving makes hair grow faster, my beard would spring up overnight.

^^This. I've been shaving for damn near 9 years now, and can confidently say that the times I've shaved daily have made no difference to the rate at which it grows (as opposed to once every few days; it grows at the same pace).

Made me think of this.
No, shaving hair doesn't do anything except get rid of it. Your body is set in certain ways; your hair will grow at the same rate.
This is true Chymeraxe: I once played a porn game when my sister was in the next room. There was no door and the computer was facing her but I blocked it with my head.

Shaving more makes it grow in thicker but as someone previously said, you should shave anyways. People who have a trash stache look retarded.

That sucks. I did the same thing by shaving constantly over the years, yet no result. I finally have a nice goatee and some side burns, almost a full chip-strap, yay! Only thing is, I have two patches on my chin where I can't go hair. I have tried shaving their constantly, yet nothing. Over time will these patches start to grow hair?

I have the same problem, and my cousin is a hairy bastard, like stupidly hairy, but he has patches in his beard, he's 24 now, some people just never grow hair in certain places
Posted at: 10/4/09 08:46 PM
Well I've got quite a good amount i just need it thicker, if it was a lot thicker it would definately count as an official goatee

Mexicans have minimal facial hair growth patterns, this is about as much as you're ever going to get.

My experience with shaving my kids is that only certain spots grow faster after you shave them.
I noticed that Leg and Arm hair grow back faster than hair on their head.
If you want a hands on feel on how the hair grows back... I HIGHLY recommend you get a couple kids and lock them in your basement and shave them.
Keep them down there and watch their hair growth.

The longer the hair, the slower it grows, and if you think that shaving increase thinckness, it is just because the hair is cut and obviously, the middle of the hair is thicker than the end part of the hair. But as you age, hair grows faster (until you start to feel old). Why don't they grow thicker and faster when it is cut? The same reason you don't scream when you snip a hair off (not pull). There aren't any nerves to tell the brain that the hair was 1 inch shorter than it was yesterday.

Shaving/cutting your hair causes hormones or whatever to be released that increases the rate of growth. It isn't a long term effect though.
