In 8 years, you've been given one main trilogy, and two spin off games, with only online map packs to fill the gaps between. That's FIVE games.
Compare that to a series like Call of Duty, which in only five years has produced an as of yet ongoing hexology of games, with three companion games outside of the main series, one major expansion pack, and three DS games. That adds up to 13 games.
So think about it, 13 games in five years, or 5 games in eight years, take your pic. Halo practices almost Nintendoesque levels on constraint when viewed in that light.
Granted, the CoD series does have multiple development studios working on it simultaneously.
