Name a few good reasons why you buy DVDs. Do you buy it just for the movie? The special features? Maybe the commentary? Why purchase DVDs?

I usually don't. If there's a movie I want to see, I catch in in theaters.

Better than streaming and most torrent quality. And the special features. And subtitles.

More convenient than waiting for the shit to magically reappear on the TV for ages.
After you purchase it, you can watch it whenever you you want.

Do you buy it just for the movie?

Most of the time or all of the time it ends out being this.

Why purchase DVDs?

If it's an international or non-English movie or anime or whatever then I wish to see the difference between the original piece and see how far off they went with dubbing to make it sound stereotypical. >_>

For the movie. Having a physical copy has a better sort of vibe to it.

I like to say it's because I don't think VHS's aren't even made anymore. By the way, I hear about renting movies online and the like, but are there a lot of movies being bought online? I really don't hear about that.

The question is not why but why not. Why not is the question that you should be asking instead.

Basically this. DVDs are great, it's better to own them in real life than have to stare at your computer watching a movie. Way better than downloading.

I buy them if I know I'm going to watch them again and again. Plus, if there's extras like in-depth documentaries and commentaries where I can learn more about the film, all the better.

The most recent ones I bought I bought because they were classic action films for 5 bucks each.

Bargain!

I mostly buy them for the movie itself, though, and to have the movie for myself.

The film, and the special features, and for the box artwork.

I am into films so I like to watch the special features and listen to the commentary.

For the better quality compared to rips, the more wide ranged audio output selection capability, the fact that it doesn't house 700 MB in your hard-drive, your download limit isn't getting sapped (if you have crappy internet like mine), etc.

Renting is the best of both worlds. You get the disc quality and you pay less than buying it. Anyways how many movies that have recently came out that you will want to watch again and again?
