Usually a cartoon will take me two to three weeks IF i work on it everyday for like 4 hours and the cartoon would be like two and a half minutes.
But some people have said theyve made flashes in a couple hours or days!! How do people animate that fast?! Is it because they dont have school or a job and all they do is aniamte?!

The time it takes you to animate 2 and a half minutes sounds about right. You can always cut corners and use a graphics tablet to speed up the proccess.

lol, I take forever. On average, I spend a good 5 minutes per frame for the first 10 frames, then I jump to maybe a minute per frame. If I really get into the groove, I could cut it to as little as 30 seconds per frame, but I usually do multiple passes (as in, I do rough, then outline, then color, then shading) anyways, so I still spend massive amounts of time on each frame.

I can do about 5 frames in a second, but I usually have a few dozen layers.

usually I do a quick pass to sketch out what I want (1min/frame) then finish it in about 2min/frame ...until my computer freeze and I have to redo it

Well, first I record and watch video reference, and take notes and begin thumbnailing. That takes about an hour or so. Initial blocking can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days, depending on the shot(s) that I'm doing. After that, final blocking can take a few weeks. Line cleanup and final rendering can take a whole month. In the end, It can take a month or two for only two minutes or less of animation.

Usually I open up Flash, get the frame rate set to how ever high I want it, size the canvas, do some drawings and some rough frames and then end up saying fuck it and I go play ODST.
On the rare occasions that I do go through with a Flash project I take a couple of weeks to finish. Each frame I like to go over to see how it transitions to the one next to it, so my stuff isn't to lengthy.

It all depends if I use FBF or Tween. I usually only use tweens, so I doesn't take me that long.

i can animate suing frame by frame, and it'll take me an hour to do about 50 frames. However, it looks really crap.

depends on what it is for, for a game I can create a walking animation in about 2 minutes, for a movie I do it in about 10 or so

well i can animate something in about 5-10 minutes of course then i lose interest and not work on the project for at least a month.
i could probably animate a movie that roughly 2 mins a week or less if i didn't have this freakin habit of getting bored of a project a day into it. :/
the way of the truth

Using a graphics tablet is not cutting corners... It's a tool used for art, 90% of people on Newgrounds use a tablet now days

On average (complex animation-wise) in an hour hour work day, about 15 seconds of good quality animation can be produced, this is not the same for things like stick figures and what ever you do but, if I were you I wouldn't base your animations on how fast you can get them done, unless its a competition, then go right ahead.
