Im currently taking classes towards a career in Graphic Design. i hope to someday be an Art director. these drawings are from my class in Design I. I was restricted to the colors black and white, and was not allowed to cross hatch on any of these. also we had to use straight lines on these and on one we had to create a design using only one shape. i appreciate any input and thanx in advance.

On this particular drawing, i was restricted from letting individual lines intersect with, or touch other lines. it was sort of a pain but turned out ok i think

On this piece i was only allowed to incorporate one shape in a variety of ways. i chose cones obviously
i know it looks bare, but i was not allowed to shade or cross hatch

On this piece i was required to use a one point perspective. i chose a birds eye view of a city. and once again, i was not allowed to shade anything in

This piece is a little different. We were required to incorporate an object from nature into a design. I chose a rose, though i dont think i did a good job of bringing attention to just the rose. I did get an "A" though! : )
and you guessed it.. i was not allowed to shade things in.

thanx! that one was actually pretty weird to work on. i lost track of how many times i had to start over since i wasnt allowed to let my lines intersect.

These are nice. I do like the way they teach art at higher levels with all these silly little challenges. It does some incredibly effective stuff.

heres some designs i finally got back from my instructor after being graded. any feedback is appreciated! thanx!

In this Flying City Design I was required to incorporate 2 point perspective and draw a city illustrating it. I was only allowed to use Black, White and various shades of Grey. I was going for somewhat of an ephemeral theme here. this is done on a 22" X 28" poster board...so yea its much bigger up close.

Sorry for the double post!

In this one the overall idea was to somehow incorporate one point perspective using x-amount of Cubes, and creating a design in between there paths but not on top of them....i know it sound weird and confusing, but the finished product didnt turn out so bad. I was going for more of a graffiti/urban theme here. I was only allowed to use black and white. no shading was allowed. . only crosshatching and pointilism (the dots)

I also was trying to tell kinda a short story here. there is a character in there. see if you can find out what happens to him. ; )
theres alot going on in here, so I encourage everyone to check out the full image if its possible.

The last one you posted is defo my fave. The rest of them aren't so pleasing towards my eye, but for what they are and what they're supposed to be they're quite good.

This one is your best one, the amount of detail, the minimalization of mistakes, it's very nice to look at and seems pretty intricate,

This is one of the ones I don't like because some of the issues are more obvious, there are some lines that don't go to thesame spot. Two point perspective is difficult though and I think you would have succeeded more if you made the horizon line a bit higher (for dynamics) and the points from which all lines arrive to run off the page.

It's up to me now, turn on the bright lights.

yea the birds eye took me quite some time and i actually had to revise it several times because of all the mistakes, but the two-point perspective drawing took me less than half the time...and maybe that shows lol. but i figured adding color to it might make it less boring and more dynamic. im actually in the process of adding color to everything ive submitted so far, using illustrator or photoshop. I hope to get scouted someday and im hoping that will help my chances, seeing how very few pieces in the art portal are just black and white.
thanks for the observations though!
