Late, but important

For those of you that may not know (I didn't till I started updating my sofware) Kontakt 3 is now FREE from native instruments.

It's the player only though, so no deep editing of the samples, but it's literally one of the best software sample players out there, and is compatible with a lot of DAWs.

On top of that, it comes with a library of again...FREE samples!

Since most of NG doesn't spend 100s of dollars, I figured this would be appropriate to mention...although someone else might've.

Don't forget to grab the free samples too!

It will play other samples as well, if you have any, depending on format.

Oh wait, there's another free program as well. The KORE player, which in itself is a VI of various types of sounds: http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/p roducts/producer/kore-player/?page=356

How is that not important? This is a music production thread, and pretty much no sampler like this is EVER free, let alone the sounds that come with it.

Yes it's great, but it's not like we NEED it. We can survive easily without it, let alone still make music without it.

Kontakt player is pretty much insane. All it is missing is an arranger and it would be a full blown Daw. If you don't have it yet pick it up, even if all the features aren't there.

I hate to say it, but I don't even search for posts on here. The search function doesn't seem to even include forums, unless "m missing something.

the searchfunction isn't the best out there, but it can get the job done if you know how to use it... there is usually no point in seraching for more than one word, f.ex, so remembering a word from a topic title is the best way to frind things imo.

if it could ever be tracked down, i have a WHOLE list of free and demo programs from multiple sites. this would be perfect to add to it. oh wait. rucklo has a bookmark of my thread, or atleast he did... anyways, its plainly labeled free and demonstration programs.

Have you ever tried Vember Audio's Shortcircuit and Shortcircuit2? Not as good as Kontakt, but they come as close as a free program can get. On board effects (Filters, Delays, Reverbs etc. with LFOs too) as an added bonus. The only problem is the file archiving system is kind of a pain to set up.
