As one friend told me, it's apparently about a poetic serial killer that tries to make people cooperate and overcome their vices by putting them in death traps, but that the later ones were mindless gore.

And then said friend admitted that she watches them before her friends because she wants to be the comforting arm around the scared chicks.
And sleep with them later.

That's basically the whole point of mainstream horror films.

This will probably be the last one. Round off the whole series with a good number like 6 movies. Kinda like Star Wars

You guys know a new Scream movie is in the works too right? Seems like they are trying to breathe new life into a few old horror flicks. The Halloween franchise with Rob Zombie behind the camera especially. I like what they did with those though.
But in the case of Saw? The 3rd one was the last forgivable one. The 4th one was complete garbage.

The saw movies are the best bad movies ever.

Saw all ways will and still is FTW.

I'm sure it will be as unorigional as the last one. For me, the constant gore got boring after the second one. Physcological horrors are the best, in my opinion.
