It sorta degenerated into a conversation on immortality.
So NG, if you had the option to become immortal, would you?

It'd be great at first, but life is so repetitive, I'd think that it would get boring after a few centuries.

If I were immortal, then that would mean that I wouldn't have to breathe, otherwise I could drown myself. So I could go underwater and chill with all the fish, or I could go into space and chill with all the planets. I think it would be cool.

I would definitely not want to be immortal. First off, you would still feel pain; you just won't die. Second, you would see everyone you love die, which is the greatest pain man has yet observed. I would rather be invisible. That's always fun, and not for the reasons you think.

And by pain, there isn't disease, so no Kidney stone like pain.
Still, you can get hurt,just no life altering or permanent damage.

The sad truth. After falling off a building for the 100th time, you would kinda get pretty bored. If you're godlike, you could mortalize yourself and finish it...I think.

Immortality is overrated. Unless you're talking about reincarnation with no complete memory of previous life, I'd say no.

There's a certain set of circumstances under which "physical immortality" would be fine.
A.) The community as a whole must have the same gift of immortality.
B.) It has to be somewhat limited. Something like: you won't age physically, you won't die of old age or illness, but in accidents or by weapons you can still be killed, as well as by starvation, dehydration, or asphyxiation.
C.) Hope that star from which your world derives its life energy isn't going out anytime soon...

If those three conditions are met, then maybe I'd take eternal life. Otherwise, I'll take my chances with the afterlife.
