I see way too many pieces of cinema that are forgotten through time, yet every time I watch them manage to be the same powerful movie that they were when they were first released. Specifically old horror movies, only because I think the genre has taken such a plunge in the past 10 years and is now absolute garbage relying only on jump scares. Psychological horror will always remain prevalent.
ANYWAYS, list some good horror movies that aren't as well known by the typical moviegoer crowd today.
Angelheart-This follows a detective played by Mickey Rourke as he encounters the paranormal, voodoo, and just fucking creepy of New Orleans. One of the scariest movies I have seen in my entire life. Fucks with your perception of reality at every possible turn with an ending that will fucking SHOCK you. While not every movie critic might agree with me this one is definitely worth the watch. But if you get really scared at horror movies nowadays, don't see this.
The Fly-I really felt that District 9 borrowed a fuck of a lot from this movie. This movie follows a character named Seth who believes to have discovered transportation. One day while drunk, Seth goes into a telepod without knowing that a fly is in there as well. While there are some corny parts, as in 99% of movies made in the 1980s, it still manages to be a riveting spectacle as you watch Jeff Goldblum's character change drastically with every passing second.
It-While some critics feel that the gore in this movie detracts from the point, I would have to disagree. The immense feelings of isolation and not being trusted remain all throughout this movie. It centers around a virus being spread throughout an Artic base. Without any way to get help from the outside world, there is no one that they can trust.
These are just a handful but I want to know what you guys can come up with.
