If math has to be exact, why are the numbers themselves flawed?
1/3 * 1 = .3333333333333333 repeating
1/3 * 2 = .6666666666666666 repeating
1/3 * 3 = .9999999999999999 repeating
PROVE ME WRONG.

0.999... = 1. That so happens to be one of the weaker proofs for this principle.
Also, sense*
So I'm basically awesome.

Yeah, division is a mind fuck for sure.
Let's declare war on math by drinking enough everclear to wipe the left side of our brain to oblivion.

if .8 repeating does not equal .9, why should .9 repeating equal 1?
Numbers are factual, this one in itself is very specific. a number can not round up.
.9 repeating will allways be < 1
meaning .9 repeating =/= 1

0.8 recurring is 8/9, which is different than 9/10. It just so happens that 0.9 recurring is the exact same thing as 1.
.9 repeating will allways be < 1
meaning .9 repeating =/= 1
It would be less up until the infinite-th 9. At which point it becomes 1.

1/3 * 3 = 1
It is 0.333... because it's not an exact number, but something between. 1/3 * 3 does not equal 0.999... because when all the pieces are put togheter they will make up the whole "pie".
When coming to fractions, there is no possible way to correctly calculate it using decimals. You need to think "pieces", not numbers.
Oh btw, did I mention that 1/3 *3 does NOT equal 0.999...?

Well then, think of the it in a real life situation.
1/3= 0.333333333... of a cake.
2/3= 0.666666666... of a cake.
3/3= It's the whole fucking cake.

I just had a strange thought... Wouldn't:
1/3 = 0.4-(1/%u221E)

I'm guessing English and Spelling didn't make much sense to you either. Fractions are purely evil and Satan though. Did you know that 4/3 of people don't understand fractions either?

Personally, I think fractions make more sense, and are better for representing complex number than decimals.
For instance, when I'm working with things like sine and cosine, I'd rather show my radians with something like 2(pi)/3 instead of : 2.0943951023931954923084289221863...
