It's more of an assumption. It's my favorite candy, so in the past through a passing of boredom I'd remove the chocolate without harming the peanut butter, to inspect its shape. Doesn't work when it's all melted, for obvi reasons. It's also how you make homemade reeses peanut butter cups too, key ingredient i've used is glob of peanut butter slightly chilled to hold its shape, put it in a cupcake sleeve thing, then just pour milk chocolate over it

There are 2 nozzles in the machine, both timed so that the inner one containing the peanut butter is delayed while the outer one fills in the cup. this is just a guess, but they've done it with peanut butter filled hershey kisses, so it should be the same idea.

Omfg you're right! How do they get peanut butter into reese cups? Well my guess would be:
1: the form the peanut butter into cupshapes
2: they set them in cupcake pods with holes in them so that the chocolate can seep through the holes and coat the formed peanut butter.
3: send it through a quick freezing process with the same solution they use for popsicles. -35*celcius water with calcium in it to keep it from freezing.
4: package.
