Back in a time when children loved to read, there was this book called "Where the Wild Things Are", a 10 sentence book that grabbed the hearts of children and adults alike. If you lived during the 70's-90's, you have read this book at least once. Now, the classic is being turn into a live-action movie. Fellows, I must say, I'm excited.

I don't understand how they can make a full length film out of such a short book...

I read this book, and I enjoyed it, but I wish I could say how super excited I am to see it, and from the moment I saw a preview for it I shit my pants. But I didn't. Really could not care less about it, same goes for any kid book that would be made into a movie.

I had only to wish that there be a large crowd of spectators the day of my execution and that they would greet me with cries of hate.

They did it with the Polar Express and Horton Hears a Who, so why not?

Trailer doesn't make it look too amazing, in fact it makes it look like it's full of clichés e.g 'mum's new boyfriend'.

I really like how the Wild Things are just obviously people in costumes though, I really love that. Kind of like Frank in Donnie Darko, for some reason it just appeals to me.

I'm only considering watching it atm, partly beause I liked the book so much and don't want it to be spoilt, and partly because I wrote a big essay on my interpretation of it one and if this doesn't fit with that at all I'm going to be annoyed. Judging by the trailer it seems to focus purely on the idea of him daydreaming to get away from the world, which would be ultra gay.

God forbid I want an image in my sig that isn't a 2px thick horizontal line

By extending the original story, however the filmmakers want. It could be adding new plot and character developments. The Horton Hears a Who filmmakers found ways to make the story from the book longer, for instance. It can definitely be done.

other possibles:

1.) Every time he falls alseep he goes to a world much better than his real one.

Ending A.) Realizes he doesn't need an imaginary world to be happy, just get a grip on reality
Ending B.) Suicide

2.) Starts to realize he can make himself enter a world much better than his real one by thinking of it, and can control when he enters and leaves

Ending A.) Realizes he doesn't need an imaginary world to be happy, just get a grip on reality
Ending B.) Becomes a drug addict and suicides

3.) Can randomly pass out then enter the world and leaves at random times

Ending A.) Realizes he doesn't need an imaginary world to be happy, just get a grip on reality
Ending B.) Randomy passs out from stress of the IRL then never leaves the world, AKA Suicide.

I'm seeing it. That was my favorite book as a kid. I honestly don't care about who would make fun of me. Its the same as cloudy with a chance of meatballs, another childhood favorite. Mocking someone for seeing their childhood again is stupid.

Cuz he's the hungry muthafuckin' caterpillar.

Also, I've known about this movie for months OP. The book is legendary, but pretty short, so it'll be interesting to see how it works, but I have faith in Spike Jonze.
