Violent video games

Now you're all probably going to call me a pansy or a bitch for saying this but...

I believe that video games should have less violence. I mean seriously a lot of the games out there are just really unnecessarily violent and vulgar. I mean like GTA, why is it that we can play a game where we run over innocent people and kill them and steal their money and yet still feel good about ourselves? It just seems like we need to take a look at our own humanity. Killing people for fun is just wrong and satanic. Not to mention games like that can be easily redone without any of the violence. I mean come, what is going on in your head when you can play these games and enjoy them? It makes me sick. Especially when we're allowing our kids to play them. It's not a matter of whether or not you're mature enough to know not to do the stuff in real life it's that we play them in the first place. So explain to me this. What justifies a want to play games in witch you kill people for fun?

I am having fun with a video game. I would like to see what GTA would look like if Niko gave people hugs and chocolate instead of shooting them. That would just be dumb

I agree with your statement that some video games have unnecessary violence. GTA is of course, one of the staples of controversy on this issue. The blood isn't needed, as is the crimes and hookers, but the game wouldn't be as good without that background to it to give it the edge and real life feeling. People play violent video games where you decapitate zombies so they're not violent in real life. Most people who indulge in gore-laden M+ games are normal people like myself. Anyone who seriously shoots up a school because of a video game is mentally ill and a piece of shit.

Why do you say "we" play them. I play GTA and like it, but don't do that stuff. No one's forcing anyone else to play violent video games, there are plenty that aren't violent you can play.

Actually you do eat hearts in some games... And you also get flesh ripped off in a lot of zombie games, and in Mortal Kombat you decapitate people...

You say it is evil and satanic? Its not like the goal in GTA is to kill innocent people, it is your choice to do so. The goal in the game is to complete missions, kill NON innocent peolple and gain social status. Just like real life it gives us choices, you don't have to go off shooting people for fun. These types of games are rated M for a reason. If young children are playing it, then it's their/parents fault and not the game's.

But why play them when there are games like Madden, Loco Roco, or Spyro to play that don't involve any violence yet can still be fun and relieve stress. Heck I loves me some Little Big Planet and guess what? No violence.

I like my violent video games (no im not a violent person at all and would NEVER WISH mortal harm on anyone nor do I have a desire to kill people) But in violent video games you can kill people with out concequences for your actions. It can relieve stress. Plus about 50% of the violent video games out there usually involve killing of creatures that are a menace to the human race. (The other 50% I admit do invovle killing people.) But just because you play violent video games does not mean you are going to go on a killing spree. Games DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT make you kill people after playing them. That is a concious choice one makes on thier own. There is a reason they put ratings on games that have violence. IF parents still buy the offending game for thier child then thats on them. I can play violent video games wtihout feeling an insatable blood lust...why? because its not real. Thats the beauty of it. I can do whatever the fuck I want in the video game and know that its just pretend and there will be no concequences whatsoever.

However everyone is entitled to thier opinion on video games.
Just DON'T try and take away my resident evil, bloodrayne 1&2, Alone in the Dark and were all good.
