Ok Im looking for a teacher to help me with flash cs3. Now If you have paitience and are willing to help me out: We have to swap either Aim, MSN, or skype names, I can also do yahoo i just gotta re install the messenger. Please dont point me to an onlne guide because i do alot better when its a one on one convo with someone so i can just ask the question and they give a nice answer. If you have a problem answering questions that sound stupid, which really shoulent come because i know most of the basics, then dont volenteer. I use to have someone that helped me out but i lost contact with him...So yeah if youd like to be my teacher just send me a private message and we'll keep in touch

Im not that great myself, but word of advice, i'd switch to macromedia flash 8, a much better program with more features, such as blur and glow. You can try the free trial, just google it.

What are you talking about flash 8 has way less features then cs3. Cs3 was made in 2007 flash 8 was before that, flash cs3 has AS3 a much better scripting language than AS2, cs3 also has object based drawings as a choice, it also has better integration with adobe photoshop and has ALL of the features of flash 8.

flash mx -> flash 7 -> flash 8 -> cs3 -> cs4

Almost anyone who is decent with flash will not teach you without some sort of monetary compensation.

Mostly true, the jerks :) Anyway nobody can teach you to animate past draw a picture, then draw another on the next frame, it's skill and perseverance. Make small things, a walking cycle, a background, a river flowing, etc. Then put it into one, a guy walking down your background, and then the river is his destination idk. Then after you get those things you can make a real piece. (keep in mind post its, a ball on one post it that moves gradually, frame by frame.)

Eh, when I first started I always had people who I could ask programming questions, and I still do I just ask fewer and more complicated questions. Not that I am volunteering, I'm just saying there are people who wouldn't mind talking to you and answering your questions. Maybe try messaging some people that you see around the forum and starting up some friendly convo.

Yeah, Flash 8 is a lot better than CS3. I'd switch too.

No, it isn't. With Flash 8 you can't write in AS3, a faster and more efficient programming language.
I'd strongly suggest to all newcomers who want to learn flash that you should learn AS3, not AS2.

The best way to learn flash? Read tutorials online. People who know the program probably won't tutor you without payment involved, which is reasonable.

Now if you want to learn to animate however: Buy, Rent, Download, Find, Steal "The Animator's Survival Kit"

Then, study it.

The information out there is free. You're best off teaching yourself. Those who teach for free will most likely teach you improperly. Those who require payment will most likely teach you less improperly, but still improperly.

I'd say google Bitey Castle Academy and get The Animator's Survival kit.

Okay, I think I know what it is you're looking for, not necessarily an official tutor, but more of a friend who knows the program. Sorry if I seemed a little bit of a prick earlier. I can try and help answer questions you might have about animating or using the program, but anything to do with actionscript and I'm kind of useless, lol. But feel free to ask me anything 2-D animation related.

It's not that people are jerks and won't teach you anything. It's that if someone really knows what he's talking about in flash, then he'd probably be busy doing other more profitable work, he won't have time to teach a random stranger on the internet.

If someone taught you something, it was because he was your friend, he already spends a lot of time with you.

If you want to learn flash, then you could either get a book about it or learn from online tutorials. You could always invest for taking a course on flash. Be it online or with someone in real life.

Well OP, I'm pretty much in the same situation as yourself. I have a copy of Flash CS3 also. I have to make a 30 second+ animation for a module on my Computer Science course and struggle to do anything more advanced than animating stick men.

If found a lot of the tutorials that are posted here of great use. I think the best way to learn is trial and error. I just toy about with Flash and self teach myself.

Also do motion studies on your own. Try animating short, random things. Such as hands clapping or a book falling off of a shelf. Do rotoscoping over videos etc. etc.

Again, I seriously recommend getting a hold of "The Animator's Survival Kit" and maybe "The Illusion of Life". I know that there's a digital copy of the former somewhere online.

But yeah thanks for the help, And when i said teacher or tutor i ment as payment i can offer friendship. I believe friendship is better then money. frienship is how i got the new flash cs3 ;)
