If I may interject:

We waste a lot of money on the enforcement of marijuana prohibition, even though most estimates say legality curbs usage by, in most generous studies, 3%. I got arrested for pot in NYC, half the people there were for pot, all the cases were thrown out, and it basically was just a waste of the time of the cops, the judge, and the marijuana enthusiast.

Beyond that, I feel that education about moderate use would do much better than simply telling "white lies" to scare kids from smoking pot. From my experience, a lot of kids who smoke pot say that it's harmless, usually upon realizing that pot doesn't cause things like increased chances of committing a violent crime, as one pamphlet I saw distributed at my college said. However, I feel that the problem becomes when a person smokes in disregard to responsibility. And heavy use does cause problems like bronchitis (my broker's lungs collapsed from smoking a pound a week a large portion of her life. She can't walk beyond the block where she lives/works).

TLDR: The money that could be spent on enforcing the prohibition of pot is better spend on educating people about it proper.

And as far as it smelling "twice as offensive"... have you ever even been around weed? It is SOOO much easier to be around than cigarettes. I've never smoked either... but I think that weed smells a lot better. And weed doesn't really make people act like morons. Usually... if they are acting like morons.. they are already morons.

And yes.. that is the fucking reason why we want it legal. We spend MILLIONS of dollars putting people in jail JUST for having pot. That is NOT worth it at all. I would rather my tax money go towards putting people in jail who ACTUALLY have done something wrong.

Smoking weed is a personal choice, not the governments. If you really want smoking weed to be illegal, why don't you move to a different country.. where they tell you how to live every aspect of your life?

I tried to do this once before on the BBS remember? It didn't work. Yes, it should be legal, and in some states, to a point, it is, under certain circumstances, while in other states, it is highly tolerated. However, Florida has Zero Tolerance Glad I moved out of that shit land.

No, what I have noticed are people of all ages that just want a safer way to relax after hard work. And sick people that just want decent natural medicine to be legal.

Don't really like weed...it's made me less shy but at the same time it's made me a bit stupid and over excited, not to mention it's changed the way I do things like play guitar, drive and all that.

At least it's not temporary though, it's quite a good experience to be had.

Ok then, well we spend millions putting people who do heroine and cocaine behind bars. Plus it's legality causes organized crime. Ok so let's solve all the worlds problems by making drugs legal, rather then doing the moral thing and making ALL of them illegal. It'll bankrupt organized crime and stop sending people to jail, but hey, we'll just do what liberals always do. Sweep under the carpet the people who will break in to places to get those drugs, steal from, hurt and kill others just to get it, and cause an unpleasant atmosphere by doing it. But hey, that doesn't matter now does it?

Heroine and cocaine are very very different. IF you knew anything about what you were arguing you would know this. Weed is natural. They don't cause any side effects.. and the only addiction that anyone ever forms is psychological. And if you made weed legal.. it would cause tobacco shops to sell them. Almost completely stopping all sales to any criminals. Making weed legal would really hurt criminals.. because they would not be able to sell there largest selling product, because it would be sold legally in stores.

Seriously.. the only people who think weed is bad are people who are sheltered.

Marijuana is pretty much harmless, worst it can do is give you cancer really, and that still is rare.

At the age of 16 you are allowed to get your license and drive legally, putting your life, and others lives at great risk.

At the age of 18 you are allowed to join the military, but you aren't allowed to legally drink a single beer.

Marijuana use is only really something that will affect the people using it, and the people who aren't using it will be fine. A lot of people you talk to daily are problem stoned during the time you are speaking to them, and you don't realize it, why? Because smoking weed barely does anything to you.

This also comes to my want of them to lower the smoking and drinking ages. My 2 statements above back that up I'd say.

Marijuana should be legalized, all it does is make the user feel good, and it's socially acceptable amongst many groups of people, I know a lot of people who smoke weed together all the time, without it we would have fun still, yes. But the weed is simply just a bonus to hanging out with people. It is harmless, and it is a fun activity. It makes us feel good, so why keep it illegal?

And besides, marijuana makes you feel hella good, has no records of death, and smoking it has no effects (at least not a strong as i dunno.... ciggarettes?)

If you're talking to me I posted earlier on this top and what I posted just before you just states the facts. William Randolph Hearst was losing money in the paper industry because of hemp. So what did he do? He made hemp illegal. So I respect your opinion on me trolling. Even though you didn't know that I posted earlier.

Why should the government tell me what I can or cannot put into my own body? Plus, more people have died by asphyxiating on a cheese sandwich than overdosing/smoking Cannabis. As long as it's in the discretion of your own house I don't see how it matters.
