Ok enough already! I am so sick of seeing people trying to legalize another drug! Smoking is on it's way out the door (thank god), and booze is bad enough. Now we got people who want to legalize something else that smells twice as offensive is makes people act like morons!?

Have you ever noticed that 99.99999999% of the people protesting to make weed legal are college students? Stop trying to say you want it legal for medicinal uses and to save trees, you really want it legal so you don't get arrested for smoking it! Stop trying legalize your drug habit under the guise of good intentions!

CIGARETTES ARE LEGAL. They are proven to kill people. So why should weed be illegal, when cigarettes are legal?

You have no answer to that question because there is no answer. It is pure hypocrisy. Weed must be legalised.

Actually jerkoff, I do have an answer. Cigs SHOULD be illegal, and they are getting there. There are now all kinds of laws making it illegal to make outside of designated areas, and tolerance for it is quickly shrinking away, plus they are $5 a pack now. Cigs killed my grandparents and I would rather they be illegal now.

I don't smoke it personally, and I don't really want it legalized, but you're ignorant.

While I don't want this "drug" legalized, I find it odd that our government has criminalized something that grows from the ground. As I believe Bill Hicks said, its like the government is criminalizing nature.

OK, that's fair enough. At least you believe that both should be illegal. That is a start. However, weed is not harmful.

And if I want to harm myself, I have the right to do that. Think about that for a while.

If they're smoking it in their own homes and not, say, operating heavy machinery or driving, it's not your problem. It's between them and God, not you and the law. Plus, weed doesn't give you too much of a problem once you're down, not much more than cigarettes or alcohol at least. Seriously, when was the last time you heard of someone robbing a convenience store to get their fix of weed? People do that for heroin and crack, but weed is softer, less destructive if they can control themselves (which they're just as likely to do as alcohol drinkers, from my own experience with stoners). Still addictive, and the fact that it's illegal sometimes makes them stoop pretty low to get it, but that would obviously change on legalization making any weed-related crimes, other than doing something stupid like driving stoned, far less likely if they even happen now.

The reason weed is illegal and cigarettes aren't has nothing to do with harming yourself you dumb twats. Cigarettes are legal because they aren't really a mind altering substance, and you aren't exactly gonna run down some little kid because you were distracted by your nicotine buzz. Weed can affect your driving ability, etc. etc, and it's undetectable by any form of breathalyzer. IE if it was legal, there would be no way to enforce people from not driving high. That's it. Duh.

Where does the thought come from that any drug should be illegal? We're not allowed to ingest something that grows naturally or is a synthetic compound of other natural things? Responsible use hurts no one but the user, and it should be our choice to do so as we please.

Again, don't need to. Use of the drug causes several problems that include:
# Distorted perception (sights, sounds, time, touch)
# Problems with memory and learning
# Loss of coordination
# Trouble with thinking and problem-solving
# Increased heart rate, reduced blood pressure
* Daily cough and phlegm production
* More frequent acute chest illnesses
* Increased risk of lung infections
* Obstructed airways
Plus it does damage to the body's immune system and although not as quickly CAUSES THE SAME PROBLEMS AS SMOKING!

I'm pretty certain that there is no push to outright ban cigarettes; just to limit their use to specific places.

And on the positive - IT GETS YOU FUCKING HIGH. hmmmm. Even OTC drugs have side effects you know. Half of those are bullshitted, and the other half are minor. I'll take my chances.

The government thinks that keeping it illegal prevents the risk of recreational use from being done.
Thier position is weakened further by keeping it away from Terminal Cancer patients in hosptals.

"Natural" animals don't smoke Marijuanna. Have you ever seen, for example, a monkey smoking?
Oh, BTW, we shouldn't help people who live in volcanic zones as lava "grows froom the ground".

No, I'm afraid it's the tobacco that causes health problems. Tobacco is not found in marijuana.

And news flash: drinking a can of diet coke causes brain damage. Let's ban Coca Cola!

For which it is completely unnecessary as there are better forms of pain reduction available.

I fucking hate it when people say "(Item) Killed my family member!" Thats as stupid as saying "This gun killed my father because someone shot him with it! Its ot the persons fault! Its the guns!" Its fucking annoying. Cigarettes DID NOT kill your grandparents. There own excessive use and carelessness did.

Carelessness? No one at the time knew they were health threatening, and even once they did it was very hard to break said addiction, which they both did. But the damage was already there and both still got lung disease.

Did a cigarette pull out a knife ad kill them? No? I didn't think so. And if this was in the 50's or whatever, then your point is invalid because it doesn't pertain to the modern situation.

First off, spell "Marijuanna" right, it's Marijuana. Secondly, well uh...there is no secondly.

All I know is that I completely disagree with your statement, and that Marijuana should in fact be legalized, at least to an extent where everyone can use it with a prescription, not just only in certain states.

Personally, I think it should be legalized completely. It's just like alcohol, it impairs judgment, causes you to act differently, the only difference is that alcohol is a depressant, and Marijuana is a stimulant. Marijuana is also proven to help people with depression, and severe anxiety disorder (and I can personally speak from experience on this). If everyone in this country smoked Marijuana instead of drinking alcohol, do you realize how different this world would be? I personally think it would be a much better place.

The dependence for Marijuana and physical harm is also low, even lower than Tobacco or Alcohol. I haven't done it for a while, and I don't really feel the need to, but like Alcohol or Tobacco, it's a nice escape from reality, and that's why we do those things, right? So if drinking and smoking tobacco is legal, and Marijuana has less dependence and physical harm caused by both, then why the fuck is it illegal?

Plus, there are people who have actually had to use Marijuana medicinally, a porn star named Blue Iris being an example, and that was frankly the only treatment for her problems, because she couldn't even take asprin for god's sake.
