I was talking to a friend of my dad's, who works in the navy as a nuclear engineer. We were talking about various nuclear meltdowns that he had heard of, and why they happened, in particular one that had happened in a sodium-cooled plant. Sodium is good because of its high boiling point, and doesn't have to be pressurized by water. Unfortunately, it explodes when it comes in contact with water. But anyway, I asked him what the average operating temperature of a modern nuclear plant is, and he told me it was confidential. Apparently, the navy doesn't want other countries to have the same success with nuclear power as we have been having. Does this seem selfish to you? It does to me.

Classes are starting, I'll check back in an hour.

It's confidential because it's confidential.

Well I would say confidentiality is standard for any military out fit. The military in this country or any country is not about being fair. They are about progressing faster technology-wise than the competition which requires a certain level of confidentiality to be somewhat successful.
