Why is it that the ability to change your username was removed from NG in March of 07? Dozens of times I've found myself wanting to change to a different name, but not being able to.
The only way I know of is asking an admin. Does anyone know why it was removed?

Most likely because people wouldn't be able to keep track a who's who. I did like the ability to change my username as well, but perhaps this way is better. They should allow a day each year to be able to change your user name.

Does anybody even read these?

It's because every user gets a page on the site, and if you were still able to switch your name on a whim, it would cause problems related to that, though I can't really remember what exactly.

You have to know your name.

Well for a start all the links would direct you to non-existent places.

Plus it would probably be hard to keep track of who's who, what with attention-whores changing their names every week.

plus this is to keep people accountable for there actions. If someone is spaming my inbox and i block them then later see that name doesn't exist anymore i dont want spam form a different name.

That is why an account should have it's own UNIQUE ID for these type of things.

I would be very suprised if Newgrounds did not have an unique field for use as a key with each account apart from username, it would be very poor database management if they didn't.

I don't think they have IDs now
That's why I liked it better before the redesign.

Every time you changed your name, your old userpage and data would become broken, but still use up server space. NG decided that this was annoying, and so removed that ability.

Well lets say you like an artist. About 2 months later you want to search for a flash by them and can't find the person's username. Ergo, problem.

You can change your username by PMing Wade. Make sure the title of the the PM is something along the lines of "Username Change" or it will be discarded.

Wade knows how to read PMs?
