I was giving my dog a bath, like usual, and I thought it would be fun to hold it under the water like I normally do; she was enjoying it until it seemed like something got stuck in her gills and she stopped breathing, it was so so horrible I almost cried. My moms're taking her to the vets right now, I think some of her dirt from the bath clogged them up. What can I do, Newgrounds?

Yeah, maybe, I think the vet's gonna fit some new ones in her. But I hope not, it'd probably cost all my pocket money and my moms aren't gonna be happy if they have to shell out all they money just for a dog they don't even like.

If the bath had been cleaned before you washed your dog some of the cleaning product may have been still in there and caused the guills to inflame and not function properly.

Oh dear, you might be right, we did clean the bath with bleach before-hand so we could get the dog extra clean. Not sure if I washed the bleach out after though. I didn't know bleach could hurt my dog's guills so bad.

Most of the time it's just the fur of the dog getting stuck in the gills, the vet will probably just remove it, cut it short and then it'll be fine.
Just cut your dog's hair often so that it doesn't happen again.

Well I'm guessing that maybe some of the shampoo might have gotten into your dogs gills and it could have given off an allergic reaction or something. Just be sure to be careful when washing around that part of the dog cause that seems to be problems for a lot of people.

Have you tried fitting the gills with grilles to stop larger objects passing through? It costs a bit extra but I think it's worth it for that enhanced security and peace of mind...
