It honestly depends.

If you want to base intelligence on raw education, then yes.. chances are they are not that intellectual/intelligent.

However, some might come in and say that they make money have sex in a safe and controlled environment... so no they are not stupid.

I guess it depends on the person. Some people really do enjoy that sort of thing, and so smiling wouldn't be an issue. And, ideally, those people are the ones that are most successful anyways. There's no turn off as intense as seeing, at the end, when she gets it in the face, that she's trying to smile. But you don't have to look too hard to tell that she's about to cry. These are the ones that probably are doing this as a last resort. Hopefully they get out soon, and you could say stupid, but again, last resort. It's like legal prostitution.
