Rule Reminder: system32 2009-09-20 03:11:15

Recently I saw an entire thread full of people encouraging someone to delete system32 on their computer. Luckily for that user, they didn't listen to them and avoided messing up their computer.

For those who don't know (and I hope that's very few of you), deleting your system32 is damaging to your computer and is something you should never do. Telling someone to delete it off their computer is not only encouraging others to sabotage their property, but will also get you an instant ban here.

A lot of you hopefully knew this, but this is your official reminder.

And if anyone here feels like being a smartass in this thread about the rule, you'll be getting a 30 day ban. Capiche?

Good work, 36Holla.

Now, it's time to stop the growing threat of hal.dll

It's always annoying to see someone give "advice" to others that will f^^k them over.
Nice to see you taking action.

Hey, thanks. Those people really must nothing else to do other than mess other people's computers up. I'm glad a mod finally took action.

I wonder if you would have felt the same way if you realized that deleting it also gets rid of vital parts of your computers operating system and will cause your computer to basically crash and burn. You were getting a 'warm welcome' from the wrong people.

Is it against the rules to tell them to hit Alt+F4? Or just discouraged?

It's not really hurting anything, it's just enraging.

I'd be hard pressed to agree that it was funny the first time. Maybe.
Yet, we're still making jokes like that? Figures.

I really hope everyone in that thread gets a very long ban AT THE LEAST.
It might have been A LITTLE funny the first time, but it's a mean thing to do.

Like system32, falling for alt-f4 would require some stupidity.

In fact, I wouldn't know a soul in the world anymore that would fall for the alt+f4 key.

System 32 is basically windows, if you delete windows, you technically fuck yourself to be completly inable to access anything, as in, being stuck at BIOS.

for those who didnt know

no, really.

Core files for whatever Windows OS You've got.
Basically, it IS Vista/XP/7/98/whatever

If you delete it, your computer is still useful...as a paperweight.
Do that, and you basically hollowed out your computer.

hal.dll is a thing in which windows uses to detect your hardware, like your hard drive, if you delete this ( as in " your computer is messing up because you have a virus hal.dll delete it ), then your shits gonna get fucked up too.

Well, there's always new kiddies coming into the internet, doing stupid things, learning stupid things, and maybe even older people new too, usually kids see this trend, and think it's cool to do so aswell, As can be said, the bandwagon of newfags.

Wow, people are still "advising" others to delete System32? Damn. Still, it's good to hear that a mod (or some mods) are trying to prevent fuckage of people's computers.

This is the best rule reminder I've heard in fucking ages.

I cannot stand when people do the whole "delete system 32" thing, and to a lesser extent the whole "press alt + F4" and whatever. Just annoying computer things.

I'm just glad most people are a lot wiser now when it comes to this stuff and yes I do hope everyone who thinks for a laugh they will advise a user to delete their system 32 will get a nice big ban to go with it.

It's not big, it's not funny and it certainly isn't clever.
