The Day has come...

My first Xbox 360 got the RRoD (Red Ring of Death) and I got a new one.... then the disc laser didn't pick up fuck all of a disc. I've tried everything to try and fix it. But I'm fed up. The gaming industry is at a line.

The PS3 now being $300... and the Elite being dropped $100. What should I do? I have been through two Xbox's now and the PS3 looks amazing at this point. Blu-ray, games, and free online (though cluttered it is free none the less) !

So what should I do, stick out the pain with Microsoft? Or jump to a new world with Sony?

Btw, 3 broken Xbox's if you count the one that Krinkels shot up. (Yes I have it. :)!)

I'm starting to think the Red Ring of Death is a myth made by PS3 fanboys to give them excuses in an argument. Or people are retarded enough to put a 360 near a radiator or put stuff on it like clothes and shit causing it to overheat.

You want 360's that have the newer Jasper chipset. You'll have to use google or wikipedia to find out how to identify which system has the jasper, because it won't just say so on the box but it will with numbers n shit on the hardware. It's the least faulty of the chipsets.

I got RROD last summer in August, but they sent me one back in a few weeks, I had warranty still.
I'd suggest staying with the 360, my brother got a PS3 a while ago, but it's not really that great.
The first game we got was LBP, I was really suprised because everyone made it seem that the PS3 was super fast and there was like no load times. But (atleast not for LBP) everything took time to load, and I'm not complaining about loads just saying that I thought the PS3 would do all that in like seconds, but the loads are just as long as most 360 games or longer.
Also downloading shit is like 20x as slower than on my 360, and then you also have to install it.

I'd seriously suggest you stay with the 360, all my friends that have PS3's got bored of it and barely use it anymore, and a lot traded it in for a 360.

Definatly go with the PS3 man. Like you said, it has free online, blue ray, and it also has it's own slection of games, for example: InFamous. I also found that the PS3 controlers feel slightly...Less clunky. Heavy. I can't think of the right word o.O It's like using a Keyboard and mouse for Dead Space rather than using the xbox controler. Not only is there free online for games, but their web browser is quite good. Admittedly, you are missing out on quite a few sweet games, L4D, Halo, Gears Of War. And the chat system for the xbox is a bit better in my opinion. All in all, i'd go with the PS3 if i were you. :)

ive gotten red ring of death 3 times on my elite, somehow my xbox recovers and keeps working perfectly afterwards, sucks to be u guys :P

I have had the red rings with the xbox, too. They repaired it in a reasonably quick time frame. I have a PS3, too, but the ONLY time I ever use it at the moment is to watch shows I've missed on iPlayer (which is an online service in the UK that allows you to watch programmes from the BBC you might have missed.)

I'm sure that this is going to turn into a huge flame fest, but if you're able to get the xbox repaired and have lots of games etc, I'd stick with that for now. The consoles will continue to come down in price, so if you change your mind and want to give the PS3 or Elite a go later down the line, you won't have a problem there and might actually save yourself some cash by holding out a little longer.

They say if the power brick has150w and that means that you are way less faulty. Both of mine have above numbers. I got my first in Christmas 2007. It broke in 08 in about 8 months. Got a new one and it doesn't read any discs. That started to happen 9 months after I got it.
