...and I have have to say is: Forget Twilight and its sparkly-ass sissy vampires, the only true vampire is hundreds of years old, has uncanny transformation abilities, lives in a big-ass castle, and feed his sisters/daughters/brides(depending on who you talk to) the blood of children.
Ehh..... I suppose Alucard's a possibility too, but I'm skeptical.

I still have yet to read Interview With a Vampire. I read Stephen King's 'Salem's Lot and it was pretty fucking sick :P Dracula definitely sounds like a good read and I agree, the only good vampire books are the massacuristic and scary-type books.

You know, in Ancient Greece, people couldn't tell the difference between a Werewolf and a Vampire, because in those days they didn't have physical differences to seperate them. It wasn't until this guy named Vlad the Impaler did some crazy shit with pikes that we now hove distinct vision of Vampires today.

Dracula is a classic that still holds a candle to the terror-fiction that's cranked out today. It's a really good read and I found myself unable to pull away from it when I read it; I love books like that. I'm not really a fan of scaring myself or anything, but it is such a rich book.

I don't see anything wrong with new twist on the idea. Twlight vampires aren't supposed to be scary. Their supposed to be living, breathing pin up boys. Nothing more then a personality-lacking teenage girl's wet dream. The Sparkling is proof.

I'm 70 pages in, myself(bought it two days ago), and something you'll probably want to keep an eye out for is just how atmosphere-driven the book is.

Did anyone else figure out that "Alucard" is "Dracula" spelled backwards? I never knew that until I looked at some online trivia.

I don't know if I was reading the right one, but I started reading that book in 7th grade, and I was extremely bored of it. It's about a guy on a kind of business trip, and he stays over dracula's castle, and then your momma got scared, and she sent you to your auntie and uncle's in Bel-Air? Just messing, and then the whole mystery part starts?

If any of you haven't seen the original take on Dracula in the movies with Bela Lugosi, I'd recommend it. This is the 1930's we're talking about, so you'll have to excuse the special effects and the lack of color (though I feel that may actually help the atmosphere).
Some say it's corny, but I think Lugosi did a terrific job, and he's still the one people remember today if you told them to draw a picture of "Dracula".
Listen to them, children of the night. What music they make!
Someone once asked me why I call myself Unimportant. Simple, I said. As a nihilist, that's what I see everyone and everything as. In the end, we are all Unimportant.

If you started reading it in the 7th grade, then no wonder you found it boring. It's long, atmosphere-driven, and filled with large words that no 7th grader would understand. Hell, even with my vocabulary of a college sophmore(Which was established two years ago, so it could be even better now), I find myself reaching for the dictionary at parts. Try giving it another chance.

I agree with OP, the vampires of Twilight are faggots compared to Dracula.
