Why cut wrists?

Out of all the places to cut, why do emos choose their wrists?

I don't know about you, but I have some pretty big veins on my wrist. I'm pretty sure if I ut myself there I'd squirt blood all over the place. If I was going to cut myself, I'd cut like- on the palm of my left hand.

I've talked to a number of people who cut or used to cut. Most of them said that they did it solely for attention -- they wanted to stop but it kinda became addictive. They wanted someone to notice and felt they were being ignored, and no one gave a shit. Wanted people to see them, so that they could get the attention they wanted and possibly the help they needed.

But some people say it's because it relives stress, and they get high off the pain. Then there's the people that just like to see the blood run down their wrists... Lots of technicalities.

They cut their wrists for various reasons, but almost never actually attempt suicide. Trust me, if someone wants to commit suicide, they WILL do it. When I went through a particular period in my life, I contemplated joining the Army for two reasons:

*To get away from all the shit that was going down around me, and
*On the offchance that I was killed in battle, that I would die a hero.

In a sense, joining the army for the sole purpose of dieing in battle is still suicide. Thank god it never progressed beyond the contemplation stage.

Please. It's all for attention. Real people who really feel something from cutting have fucking hundreds of scars usually, and not on the common attention whoring wrists, but on their arms and legs, places they use that actually won't get seen by others.
