I'm pretty sure that back in the day serial killers would of been hanged.
Don't you think there would be a large numbers of killers hidden inside the batch of criminals being shipped into Australia?

No I don't believe so.
From what I know murder was not considered a transportable offence, the only other one I know of that isn't is prostitution.

It's the fault of that damn minister in Australia who doesn't want an R rating for video games (but films are OK for some reason).

I don't really care. You can just get it on ebay from the UK. That's what I'll do with the 360 version if this happens. Maybe they'll just slightly censor the whole game because of Australia, like they did with Fallout 3.

Why is there no 18+ rating in Australia, exactly?

Doesn't that kind of give the impression that games are purely for children?

Who the hell told you that? You can legally hunt feral animals if its on farm land/you've been given permission to. You can't just bust down someones door and blow a kittens head off.

That's exactly what it does, and why one particular attorney-general has been against it for years. The worst thing is that for a new rating to take place, the vote between all the attorney-generals has to be unanimous... so when you get one dick A-G...

It's stupid, since films and literature have the adult ratings, yet games do not... and it's not as if store-owners are going to go and let children buy R18+ games, since they'll face the same penalties as if they were trying to sell the kid a porno.

I think IP adresses play a big role in this process as well. However our politicians and the OFLC still have the technological mindset of someone from 1976 so it could possibly work.

Steam is region locked. It would still be a pain in the arse to have to log out, and re-log in JUST so you could play ONE game, which should be sold here anyway, if our government wasn't a bunch of old men afraid of the dark.

If the UK doesn't get raped by this, I'm just going to import.

New Maps.

To start with, I don't remember seeing them promise anything but new maps, which they are developing and are confirmed.

Also, since the maps in L4D1 which people are creating can be used in L4D2, how's to say that won't work backwards?

Steam is region-locked, and I don't really think Valve will try and sell it like that, although I'm pretty sure that the laws around banning games don't extend to digital distribution.

But otherwise, it's always possible to just import.

Also, if we do get a toned-down version, it might be possible to 'un-nerf' it, since I've heard that it is possible to do it with the 'cut' German version of L4D.

I'm glad I'm American, with the First Amendment game developers can pretty much put whatever they want in a game and the government can't do anything to regulate it.

Sure maybe some overtly concerned religious groups may try to fight it, or maybe some failed lawyer will get disbarred in his home state trying to fight it (looking at you Jack Thompson).

But in the end, they can't do anything to take away our hobby.

This is one of the many reasons I love my country.

I'm just going to pirate the game, myself. My way of sticking my finger at the goverrnment, by making the company pay for its intestine-itry that got it banned. I just want mah zeds dead!
