They're kicking me out of my AP History class.

I just got into, I haven't been in school for a full week yet, and have only been in that class for three days.
I was switched into that class. I was supposed to be in their to begin with, but there was a lot of scheduling conflict, the school's programmer had left, and they had to figure it out for themselves.

In my AP (Advanced Placement), it's pretty packed. There have been a lot of problems with overcrowding in New York, and in my school, it shows. But, I worked hard to be this class. I didn't try too hard in my last, normal history class, specifically because it was easy, so I breezed along with high 80's. Then, I found out about the AP class, so i did some extra assignments and worked myself up to a sound 90, and I needed a good English grade, so I got that up to an 85. I was close with my counselor and old History teacher, they both agreed I had great potential and everything.

Now I'm being kicked out. I work harder than the other students, and I'm most likely more intelligent and have a passion for history.

TL;DR: I'm being kicked out of my AP History class, when I deserve to be there more than most others.

I feel you; I couldn't get into art class last year because the scheduling fucked up. I was stuck in Drafting.

I haven't had one schedule without a missing/wrong class as of yet. It fucking sucks waiting in the counselor's office for 3 days for them to take 20 seconds to fix something.

That fucking sucks, man. I'd complain to whoever, whatever, take it as far as the principal if you have to. If that doesn't work, domestic abuse scandals and planting cocaine in someone's locker are options, or you could embarrass them out of the school with the Last Measure Locker.

Congrats on 7000.

So...why exactly are you being kicked out. So there's a scheduling conflict but that's not exactly grounds for you being forced from the class.

There are two AP classes.
One first period, one fifth.
I go to the first period one, where there are 36 students.
The last four late kids have to get chairs from other classes and sit without comfort.
I see why they'd be downsizing, but God damn it, why me?
I went the extra mile, I made up assignments that I originally couldn't be fucked to do, I kissed up to my counselor and History teacher to the point where it was pathetic.
I went to a small seminar and signed several papers.
They tried to intimidate me with the amount of work. I'd have to read.
That's it. I laughed.

Also, the 7,000 is nothing to congratulate, it's a sad thing, really.

Also, I thought it was clear, but I guess it wasn't.

The scheduling conflict thing was the reason I was given when I asked why I wasn't put into that class initially.

I'm being kicked out because the class is crammed, and there are a few people who applied and didn't get it who had slightly better grades than me. That's partially my fault for being so relaxed and nonchalant about my old History class.

But, fuck them. I don't care about their grades, it's about who wants it more. And I want it more.

I took AP US History class last year and I see what you mean, alot of people got kicked out of my class because it was so packed. I was kinda stupid and I didn't know shit about US history or anything really, I felt bad because I felt like I was taking a seat for someone that really needed it. But then I remembered that hey I'm in this class to learn so whatever

I got a 4 on my AP Exam, all the "smart" kids got 1s and shit. It really goes to show that alot of them are just cocky and jealous or something.

In my school, AP was only attainable with a 95+ score in that class the year before, and a 90+ for math, science and english.

So you would have been outta luck there, and probably many other schools.

Well, if you want it, fight for it. Talk to administrators and see of you can manage to change your schedule to fit. If you managed to get enrolled in the class earlier, then it would not be unreasonable to expect to stay in it if you fit all the requirements.

If you don't get in, it's not so bad, since you can always just teach yourself history in your own free time, which is basically what I did in high school while I took regular history classes because I didn't want the extra assignments.

I never even took the class, and I got a five on the AP exam for US History. The easiest AP exam I ever took in my high school years. You can honestly not study at all and still pass that exam, given, of course, that you aren't a complete fucking idiot, or so I assume. Supreme Court case references and 19th century labor disputes are the only mildly challenging topics covered on the exam, and you could still get a five even if you answered all of those questions wrong, or left them blank. You don't need the class, buddy. All you need is the exam grade.

Ours was always the same way. Super small school, could never get into any classes....and every damn semester they tried to put me in home ec, and every semester I dropped it.

I ended up taking 5 foreign languages just to get out of home ec.

Yeah, that sucks. I've been fucked by the school admin as well, but I guess there isn't much you can do. I mean, they just don't listen, and you can't make them listen, unless you do something drastic, but I wouldn't suggest it.

In my 3rd year of highscool(when i dropped out) drafting was one of my fav classes I learned a lot in it about drawing and wish to take art classes so I can learn more effective ways to draw since I fucking suck at drawing, I've been practicing but show no improvement at all.

Yeah, that's bullshit, and I fully expect that you entirely made it up. For the record, the 2009 AP US History test had a pass rate of 53%, one of the lower rates compared to all tests. I'm sure that (conservatively) over 95% of testers took the course. I guess you could teach yourself the material using a quality textbook and College Board, but you had better be thorough. I took an AP history exam last year- World, not United States- and review materials/test prep were not a substitute for the course.

Yeah I have to agree with the other SeeInTheDark. You honestly can't pass the test if you haven't taken at least some form of US History, and even if you do, the most you can get is a 3. The APUSH test is one of the hardest because it's not just multiple choice, its 3 fucking essays, and you need to be damn good at DBQs, and thats something only a US History class can teach. So pics plz of your 5 or it didn't happen. That test was hard enough

Kicked out of a AP History class for such a bullshit reason? I'd take the advice of whoever said you best fight for your AP class and bitch to whoever can change your situation. Personally I always found History class a bit fun say compared to math (ick!). It does suck that you have potential in that class but you did take the history class you had last year rather nonchalantly so you sorta have to roll with the punches buddy.

Getting the class you want is always a bitch. I tried to get a auto tech class back in my high school sophomore years and they gave me a Auto Tech II class despite the fact that at the time I didn't know how to tell the difference between a dipstick and a hole in the ground. They pulled me from the class 3 weeks later despite successfully accomplishing every repair given to me (Replacing the radiator on a 1997 Ford Astrovan is a BITCH!) Because I had not taken Auto Tech I.

Tl;DR schools do NOT have your best interests in mind.

ARE YOU MAN ENOUGH FOR THIS?

Moar like, public schools are too much of entangled bureaucratic messes run by lame sheep following backwards orders. :/

You should definitely fight for the AP class. I'm sorry I didn't say it before. If you have an interest in it, it's important because AP tests are often polled as the NUMBER-ONE factor on which colleges decide whether to admit applicants, or close to it. First come, first serve is a shitty policy when it comes to AP classes. This isn't a semester-long Fashion Marketing class, it's a core class, and an important one at that.

Not at all. I used to be absolutely phenomenal at essay writing. Got a five on both English AP exams in high school, and the US History exam was easy for someone who spent any amount of time watching the History channel over the years. World History was about twenty times harder than US History, and I took World History as an AP class, only got a four on that particular exam. Most people who take the AP exams don't know or care about the material presented. I, on the other hand, did.

Believe me, it was better than Physics and World History by orders of magnitude.
