3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsWanting to submit a game into the 2bee contest I was looking at past entries and saw some a game called storm. Looks pretty cool. I really like when people come up with stuff like this, on most portals we see like 1000 copies of the same things with a few changes. Original game ideas mix things up and to me are much for fun to play. Any1 else seen any original flash games they like or have thought of/working on one.
With the millions of games out there, it's very hard to come up with a new concept that hasn't already been done before. Heck, some games you might see as original could simply share that same concept with another game, another old, unknown game.
I think a way a good way to make games "original" is to give them a multi-player aspect. There's a ton of games that we've all thought "Man, that would be so awesome 2 player". Another big thing could be co-op, I've yet to find a Flash game like that.
Apart from that, original games are rare exactly because of what the previous poster said. There's a ton of games out there already, it's hard not to be influenced...

Google a flash game called bubble trouble if you want to play a two player co-op flash
I meant Co-op as in both players have to COOPerate to finish the game.

Now that was on my ideas list, an action adventure platformer where you are teamed up with a random person and you both play to finish the game.

Complain to Tom and make sure he releases a PC version of Game 3 ;)
Wish I had an Xbox
the wind effects are crazy in storm, how did he do that?

Ya, that's a really good point. There's an uncountable amount of indie games developed every day and you never know if one of them catches the eye of a big developer.

That's what I have been trying to do with my games, learn multiplayer. Maybe I posted at the wrong time or simply newgrounds gets a hella lot of noobs asking the same question as me... but when I was looking for multiplayer info, I got pretty much anal raped by the posters. Just trying to figure it out myself now haha. Hopefully Red5 will do teh trick, only free solution I saw besides APIs.

Heck, it could be even older, before the flash ever existed, an old Atari or Nes that nobody knows about.

That's because if you aren't already pretty confident about your coding abilities and server side programming, then it'd be a dream trying to make something multiplayer.
