The first thing I did when I got FL was delete all the confusing directories and make it really simple.
Synths
Saved Files
Samples -drums -effects
and then all that other stuff you cant delete...

I remember when I was eight years old and found FL confusing too. Then I turned nine.
Just fucking listen to it.

I just ignore all of them and use the soundfonts I've downloaded. They're easy to find and it saves me from the cumbersome FL stuff.

Amen. Once I turned 10, I realized I could make my own folder called ****** Which either had a starting letter between X-Z or any special characters so that it would end up at the top / bottom of the list automatically. That way, I could sort all my own stuff the way I want without having to lost any of the FL Core stuff. Who wants to delete the FL Cowbell huh?

It's not all that confusing to me. I use it how it's supposed to be, and i just save presets and patches to one location (you know what i mean by that, one location that has everything i've saved, split into folder groups depending on VST.

yeahh i find it a tad confusing too, i just add an extra directory from my "my documents" folder so it keeps it all in one place. Makes it look neater and it's handy for backups and using other programs. :(

yea, im thinking about deleting all the gay FL samples, but there could be that one odd case, where some one sends me an FLP and they used them, or... i might need them... hmm

lol I don't use the browser in FL... I have a dedicated folder in My Documents>My Music for samples and FLPs... it's actually really organized.

I figured out you can hide the files so you cant see all that preset crap. You just make it a hidden file in properties :D

Never used the FL browser. I also don't use those silly bookmark tabs in Firefox which cut my window size down by 20% either. Frankly, I hate big windows of that sort which take up my workspace. Not to mention, it's counterintuitive to sift through all that shit if you have a folder 6 or 7 layers deep to get to, when you can just put your VST settings in as a favorite folder in Vista and then get to it with one click in a regular file dialog.

I left everything the way it is because I never use them. I always use audio clips and vst's I've downloaded myself. I have those folders bookmarked when I go to open a file in my generators, so it's all easy pickings there since I organized my samples into like 10 folders. They range from melodies, full songs, instruments, percussion, breaks, voices, ect.

FL 9 is much neater, there aren't a million different folders with crap you'll never use. The crap you'll never use is all in one folder now.

That new help window near the bottom is a bit obnoxious. Overall in terms of neatness, can't say I see much difference other than in the playlist and even then... It bothers me that I can't flip. I don't usually work with clips. But yes, I can see why it's "neater" having everything on the same level.

Lol i use the bookmars a lot, except I use google chrome, so I think i get a lot more space.
