Check this out.
Take 4 and multiply it by 4 and then add 4 then divide it by 4.
4 X 4 + 4 / 4 = 5
Crazy, ain't it?

do it in binary it isn't nearly as cool

(100 X 100 + 100)100 = 101 \

also with out parentheses it isn't correct

Well that's odd
4 times 4 is 16.
plus 4 is 20.
20 divided by 4 is 5.

4 X 4 + 4 / 4 = 17

Your logic and math skills are flawed

Unless of course you separates properly the denominator and the numerator. So actually I don't see any fault there.

Another nifty math trick:
1^2=1
2^2=4
3^2=9
4^2=16
5^2=25
6^2=36
7^2=49
8^2=64
9^2=81

Notice the sequence (0-)1-4-9-6-5-6-9-4-1(-0)
or within it's distances: (1-)3-5-7-9-7-5-3(-1)
Can you prove it?

we arent debating your calculations just the order in which you did them

(4*4+4)/4 does in fact equal 5
4*4+4/4 however equals 17

You haven't really been paying close attention to the responses, have you?

Also, if you use a proper calculator and punch in the operations (without hitting equals) in sequence it will spit out 17.

to be honest, all you do is
(x*x+x)/x=x(x+1)/x=x+1

Take 4 and multiply it by 4 and then add 4 then divide it by 4.

Equals 5. I know you all want applause for learning the order of operations in 4th grade, but the wording above suggests the arithmetic is in series.
