I just don't understand what it is about becoming a moderator, particularly a forum mod, that fucks everything up. All of a sudden, with a simple change of aura, a simple .jpg, and the ability to moderate something, people change for the worse.
The users who would normally never even be interested in a user before he/she was modded, would surround them, commenting on their blogs and thread posts for selfish reasons to become a moderator themselves. But, what about the old users who would comment on their blogs even before they became a moderator, and contributing to posts not because their aura was gold, but because they had something helpful to say. Now these users will also get mixed in with the selfish, which devalues what they are and will ultimately be labeled the same.
The newly modded members change for the worse as well, becoming more distant with other users they once chatted with. They also change in attitude, actingthe role of what they see a mod should act.
They don't associate much with normal users, and why should they? After all, normal users just want to talk to them to get a bigger chance at becoming a mod.
End rant.
