I'd argue that the ignorance is more on the atheist side of the argument. The whole definition of atheism is absolute certainty in the belief that there is NO god and NO divine intervention in the world.
Atheists think they know everything about shit they know nothing about, are ignorant assholes and are ruining America.
Nice little proclamation there, but you could place any noun in there and make it work.
Care to expand on that argument?
Yes, that was actually the point of my argument.
It's hostility and intolerance that is the real issue. I've been a pure atheist since a very young age, and I must say that I have encountered more ignorance and intolerance on the side of the non-religious versus the religious. Naturally, making a generalization such as "Atheists are more intolerant" is absolutely ridiculous, i'm just speaking from personal experience.
I agree with a separate poster about the new generation being LESS religious than the previous, which of course could attribute to my idea that atheists are more intolerant and ignorant (as youth often are).
It's my opinion that nobody is right, and as knowledgeable as we have become we cannot even begin to comprehend the creation of the universe and the FUNCTION of it all. Be it a scientific explanation or a religious one, i'm sure we are far off the marker on either end.
It's a problem we will never conclude.
