Look at this retro beast, it has fucking wood stuck on the front.

I saw it at a local car boot sale today and I decided to buy it. I forked out £15 for the console, games, controllers, paddles, etc. I'm sure some will knock it because the graphics are made up of colourful dots - but fuck-it, its a piece of gaming history. I also hear from some people that some games are still rather fun to play.

Anyone else own a 2600?

I bought an Atari 2600

Fuck you, you're only 16. Just because someone wasn't alive when a console was released doesn't mean they can't get nostalgia from it. My siblings owned a SNES and I get nostalgia from playing Mario Kart and Mario World and I'm 15 - the age where the N64 was introduced.

Prepare for unforeseen consequences.

Wow, that thing is likely twice as old as I am. Make sure to take care of it, and if it still works by the time you have children then you can shock them with the game systems people played in the 70s.

On the rare occasions that I go to car boot sales I always look out for pieces of computer/video game history. My best find was getting an Atari 520 ST along with a good amount of games (listed on my news post) for £20. It is still fully working and has all it's original cables. It's not in the original box, but that doesn't really matter as much to me.

I don't really buy them because I think it's going to give me hours of enjoyment, I just think it's nice to be able to own and interact with technology from that past that has shaped the way we play video games today. It also makes for a pretty cool game collection.

Come on.

You know that's not the only thing that separates Atari games from modern games.

Ahhh, ye olde bit wars. The Atari Jaguar had "64-bit" graphics and it mostly sucked. Bits ain't everything.

Do you have E.T. for it?

If you do then don't sell or destroy it. Piece of history that be.
