They die in two shots, then complain to you that you're not healing fast enough.

Spells like hold and knockdown are especially frustrating in Elite mode.

Might need to re-roll a new character. :-/

Then kindly remind them that they rushed in too fast for a cleric to heal them effectively.

Actually, Khyber is the unofficial 4chan server. NG just so happened to invade it.

Sir, we did all we could. I'm afraid your thread isn't going to make it. I know this may be hard for you, but you must live through it.

I think I'm done with the game. Granted, it's extremely fun for a while, but the monotonous grinding once you hit level 5-6 is pretty horrible. The fact that you do the same dungeons over and over (with less xp each time) makes the experience a lot less exciting... and after reading forums, I found out it was virtually impossible to hit level 20 without paying unless you have a straightforward plan from the get-go.

Try doing the quests once for every difficulty level (Solo, Normal, Hard, Elite) for maximum output.

Even so, that's repeating the same thing over and over, no different from the grinding in other MMOs.

For what? End game is worse than most MMOs from what I can tell, with completely imbalanced classes in PvP because the game is based around PvE, not PvP. So you're left with raiding for good gear... for what? To play better in raids in an attempt to get better gear, aka an endless cycle.

To be fair, I'm not a huge fan of MMOs to begin with. I enjoyed playing FFXI for about a year because it was very challenging when it first came out, with a very harsh death system and very little English-speaking end game players. I also enjoyed WoW, especially the PvP, but in the end I guess I'm just not cut out for MMOs.

So you're basically explaining why DDO sucks in a nutshell. You forgot to mention that you gotta pay to raise the tiny level cap from 4 to 8, then 8 to 12, then 12 to 16, then finally 16 to 20 and also pay to grind in different places as different characters. Anyways, you should probably play the tabletop game (Try to avoid 4.0 books and find 3.5 books whenever you can) instead of the mmo as there is no grinding and endgame is far superior.

Technically you don't have to pay for anything, including raising your level. That's a common misconception. I got the first leveling sigil (increasing my possible level to 8) as a reward from an elite quest, as have many others.

And I have played the table top game, many years ago before the creation of MMOs. My friend was a pretty good dungeon master, didn't have the power trip that many have, and he bought books whenever he could. But... it just got old. With technology, I found we were needing to use our imaginations less and less. And when Ultimate Online came out, that was the death of tabletop DnD for us.

You got my attention. Downloading right now. I hope it's good. Is there a lot of classes to choose from, can you get sub-classes, etc. ?

There are quite a few classes to choose from (around 9 or so with around 3 builds for each) and there are no subclasses. You can, however, multiclass into different classes but you shouldn't invest too much into that.

Awesome. I just started and I am an Human fighter. I just completed the crypt quest. It's a pretty interesting game. I'm mainly a FPS person myself, but I have gotten into Oblivion, and I re-installed WoW, but alas I need to get a new time card.

Alas, the death of the tabletop game is nigh. 4.0 is even worse than 3.5, and imagination is limited to things we have experienced.
