I wonder what his reaction will be to the negativity surrounding the fact that you need to pay for the full game... Will he get angry, and never come back? Will he be so filed with grief that he'll make it free? Or will the most likely result happen, in which he says it's sad that people feel that way, but he's still not changing anything? I honestly can't blame him, three years is a long time...

But... 19 dollars? He could TRIPLE that amount if it was only 10 dollars.

You guys didn't complain when a game like Alien Hominid was made from a flash game, to a game that you had to buy. Fuck off.

^When you typed "yeah" that meant you were agreeing, the following statement after "yeah" was "fuck that guy" and then you continued to go on with "trying to make money from a flash game, how dare he:. Which in the context you typed it in, was agreeing with everyone else in saying "fuck that guy". You've already jumped on the bandwagon, but maybe there's two...

In this economy, most people can't afford $20 games, and if they could they wouldn't waste it on a small flash game.

$19? Really?

Mr. Leffler, I understand that you're trying to make a living, but I feel that you should realize that there is such a thing as making a good overpriced to the point where the high price will not make up for the small number of people purchasing the product,

I am very disappointed with this latest development, I really am. Ben Leffler is a great graphic designer, and makes some of the best horror/point and click games in flash that you can find, and I do understand that he needs money to live and that games like the Exmortis series require a great deal of work to complete, and I agree that he deserves some monetary reimbursement. However, $19 for a flash game? That is absolutely outrageous. Exmortis 3 would need to be absolutely IMMENSE to deserve that much money, immense enough to completely outdo both of the other games in the series.

As much as I love Exmortis, I would NEVER pay that much money to play a single flash based game, even if it is made by one of my favorite game designers. MAYBE $5. MAYBE. But NOT $19, sir.

That is TOO bold.

And you're a fucking moron for believe people HAVE to provide their work for free. People have to eat and if you want high quality games, they're going to have to support the people dedicating their time to make them. Its just the way it is.

Luckily websites can have advertisements, and its expected so this site can be free, but a majority of flash content is so in depth it would be an annoyance and mood breaker to have ads along side it.

Its not too much to ask for a little in return when you've spent so much time on it.

I agree $19 is a little steep. He'd probably make more money if he reduced the price to make it a little more viral, but thats more of a marketing mistake than anything else.

The steep price is what annoys me so much. Not many people are going to buy it for that price, and most people who end up playing it will probably just pirate it for free, ripping of the author. At the same time, fewer people who are fans of Leffler's work who don't pirate it will be able to experience it, letting down a huge chunk of his fanbase. That high price is a terrible business move.

Well, on the bright side, no one can claim he's trying to corrupt the youth. That kind of price with a clear disclaimer at the beginning pretty much guarantees that he's only offering this to adults, which I'm more amazed none of you are upset with. LOL. :)

You can say its stupid to charge that much and you can outline all of the reasons why it doesn't make sense. But you're the cunt if you believe people shouldn't make money off of their work. That's my main point.

I think he's entitled to make money off of his work, yeah, but I'm frustrated that he's set a price that will end up not only making the game less accessible, but will end up being less profitable due to the lack of sales as well.

Well, the most you can do is hope that market economics force him lower the price to meet demand.

Who said I ever believed that?

It is greedy of them because yes the price. I'm sorry I didn't explain exactly why it was greedy, I assumed everyone knew why. Yes the $19. For one flash version game that lasts a few hours at best. There is defense for that. Need to make money? Sure, but there are better ways of doing that without pissing off their fans, especially the younger ones who simply won't have the money.

Actually the most annoying thing about it is the long delay between the games - 3 and a half year wait for 1 game? If he was churning out games every 6 months you'd be able to excuse the cost more, because he really would be working solely on the games and need the income more so, and would be giving more to his paying fans but the fact is you can't just show up 3 years after the 2nd part with the promised 3rd part then explain "That'll be $19 please".

Actually if this point of view makes me a moron I don't care. It appears I'm not alone in this thinking.

It's just a flash game.

I wonder if the site/company that he's working with set the price instead of Leffler himself. He's never put out a game with Fizzy or any other site like that, so it could be that he's getting ad revenue from the demo and the people he's working with are setting the price.

Either way, that price is far beyond what most people would be willing to pay for a flash game when the vast majority of flash games are free.

Fizzy overprices all of their games. I sort of wanted to buy swords and sandals, but when it came out it was like 15EUR for it.

The fuck is wrong with you cunts? Zero'ing a game because the creator is "selling out," profiteering, giving in to the evil capitalist notion that is making money for your hard work, etc etc.
Bottom line is you're a lazy teenage bum who's too limp dicked to ask his parents for the money to buy a game because you can't come up with it yourself.

It's nineteen-fucking-dollars. Get jobs. Go return some bottles. At least check the couch cushions for loose change, you penniless basementdwelling philistines. Since none of you have had a haircut in over 2 years you should have been able to save up nineteen dollars by now. Check the ashtray of your parents' car for fucks sakes. If you don't have $19 dollars in your pocket or a bank account, what the fuck are you doing living in a first-world nation? I know day-laboring wetbacks that can come up with 19 dollars, and you can't? Take a page from their book- go mow some lawns, ten bucks a pop and 2 houses later you're good to go.

Jesus Christ, I've wasted more than 19 dollars on a tip before. And she wasn't even a good looking stripper.

Those are outrageous prices. I bet Fizzy marks them up so high because they get a cut of the profits for distribution and marketing the games, and the rest goes to the actual developers of the games.

Those prices are pretty ridiculous, there are plenty of free flash games out there that are at least as good as all those games, if not better. I mean, a lot of those games on Fizzy aren't even all that well polished compared to a lot of other free games. They could probably seriously boost sales if they lowered their prices, especially since the market for casual games is getting more competitive and professional.

I have a summer/winter job that gets me $11.05 an hour and I'm part of the state retirement system through it, and I'm a full time college student for the majority of the year. Am I able to spend $19? Yes. Do I want Exmortis 3? Yes. Do I think flash artists deserve to make a profit from their games? Yes. But, am I willing to pay $19 for a flash game? Hell no. I didn't get a job so I'd be able to make frivolous purchases without asking my parents for money, I got a job so I could pay for college and food and rent.

Even if I didn't have to worry about money, I still wouldn't spend $19 on a flash game unless it was an unbelievably good game and all the money was given to the developer. While Exmortis is obviously an awesome series and I enjoy games of that genre a great deal, I seriously doubt that it is $19 good compared to all the great games I play for free. As for the fate of the money, Fizzy takes a fuckton of the cash. 50% of the ad revenue generated and 50% of the download revenues are kept by Fizzy. If I'm going to pay $19 for a game, I'm going to do it because I want it all to go to the person who made it. I don't fucking want fizzy.com to keep half of it, that's an outrageous percentage when sales are concerned. I can deal with that percentage if we're talking about ad revenue, but not for the games themselves.

I looked it up. The minimum they will sell a game for is $2. The proceeds are always split 50/50 on downloads, aka buys. The flash artist gets 30% of the ad revenue.

I couldn't find anything that talked about how they were setting the price on individual games, but its probably fizzy doing it based on how popular they think it will be.
