THIS THREAD IS FOR METALHEADS ONLY!
You may or may not have seen this thread I made a few weeks ago.
Basically every single notable thrash metal band ever made was mentioned in that thread.
But i've realized something.
PROGRESSIVE thrash metal - Needs to happen.
Some of Dream theater and Symphony X's progressive metal stuff has sort of thrashie sound to it, BUT NOT ANYWHERE THRASHIE ENOUGH!
And yeah, some of Megadeth, Nevermore and Murdered by Death's thrash metal stuff has sort of progie sound to it, BUT NOT ANYWHERE PROGRESSIVE ENOUGH!
Their NEEDS to be a band like this: Brutally fast guitars, bass and drums, angry and violent lyrics, NASTY guitar solos and an atmosphere that makes you want to KILL - All just like thrash metal, AND: Really technical instrumental, complex lyrics, short melodic acoustic breaks here and there AND the songs must be looooooooooong, with at least one 20+ minute long song per album.
What also needs to happen?
SYMPHONIC thrash metal - As Symphony X proves(yes, I realize it's a naruto amv), keyboards CAN be very well used in thrash metal without the band being posers and/or pussies and actually have it ADD to the atmosphere greatly.
Their NEEDS to be a band like this: All the thrash elements I said earlier AND: A Female singer with a death metal vocalist on backing vocals, keyboards(But used in a GOOD way), lyrics with meaning and the guitars, bass and drums must all have a melodic and symphonic sort of feel among them, while still being fast and brutal.
What also needs to happen?
POWER thrash metal - Blind Guardian, Grave Digger, Helloween, and basically every other power metal band, at least once, have all proved that they can be dark and brutal.
Why can't they combine power metal and thrash metal? Brutal and fast drums + bass like Thrash metal, rhythmical and complex like power metal. Lyrics can be violent and angry but also fantasy influenced and with melodic harmonious sort of chorus. Falsetto vocals that are really angry sounding or thrash metal vocals that are sort of high pitched? Etc.
The reason thrash metal died in the 90's is because all of the most famous thrash bands(Metallica, Anthrax, Kreator(Sort of), exodus, etc) all sold out, and when that happened all that were left were the lesser famous thrash bands - but since their style was little different from the originals they didn't become famous and the genre became unpopular for being generic and whatnot.
These days thrash bands like Kreator and Exodus are BACKwith their roots.
What else? New thrash metal bands, THAT ARE BECOMING SUCCESSFUL ALREADY. Bonded By Blood, Evile, Warbringer, Mantic Ritual, Gama Bomb, Warpath, Thrash Or Die, etc, etc.
Thrash metal is coming back in popularity these past 5 or so years and many new bands are appearing.
Why don't they expand their empire of metal by evolving their styles?
I don't know, my fellow metal heads - Discuss.
And remember, don't argue - We're Bonded By Blood
