Why don't they "get it"?

So this local music video station started broadcasting earlier this year sometime in Arizona on dtv channel 38-3. And I thought it was the greatest thing ever.

They showed nothing but 80's music videos, and the occasional commercial break, with like 1 hour a day of paid programming. It was everything a music station should be. When one music video ends, another started.

No stupid shows, no retarded hosts/personalities. There wasn't even station identification. Just commercials and great 80's music videos.

Now they've started becoming like other retarded music video stations having station identification... I swear to god/allah/hannaman the monkey god that if they make one more step towards becoming like MTV/VH1/Fuse I will boycott this station like the others.

Why can't music video channels ever just show music videos?! It was wonderful having a station where I KNEW that if I flip it on I would either see 1 of 2 things, a MUSIC VIDEO, or a commerical.

Aha, you had me for a minute there. Everyone knows that music videos aren't worth watching. Celebrities doing nothing is where it's at. Like a contest to find Paris Hilton's bff.

My 1,337th post (the second one I made in that topic).

LOL guess you missed in my post that this is over the air DTV. I don't have cable, nor do I desire to pay for it.

MTV = Moron Television.

It used to be worth a damn, but, now, it's just a joke of its former self. I hate almost every show on it.

"everyone" is just a loaded statement. To me music videos are one of the ultimate visualizer to watch with the music. And not having cable/satellite this station was a true godsend for me.

And yes I've heard of Music on Demand channels, friends that have cable have them but that's just music right?

MTV is a perfect example of what used to be a good TV Channel but got killed over the years.

At least change the fucking name.

Does anybody even read these?

I know how you feel a little, because a few music channels over here have ended up doing it over the years, particularly channels that specialise in playing music as it's released, which end up having to change themselves a bit when tastes change and different sorts of music become more popular. I think for a large part of it, it comes down to independant stations that just want to play the music being chewed out for various reasons, and they therefore start having to adopt the sort of formats the bigger music TV networks use. In a few cases, the independant channel has been bought out even, which is a shame.

Unfortunately, I do see the appeal of the "non-music shows", as much as I personally dislike them most of the time. It's better if there's a little bit of a mix, like if you have an artist presenting their "favourite songs" or whatever, because then you have a bit of music, while only having to handle the person(s) yammering on for a little bit. I'll also admit that there was an overall music based one with animations, interviews, video previews, etc. that I used to watch back in school with a friend that I enjoyed, because it was funny and just generally about music. I don't know if it's still on the air though.

I understand that it's annoying too. It's a shame that those in charge of the market have steered the networks in the direction they have, but maybe you can cross your fingers for another channel similar to your old one on coming up in the future. You can also have a look for particular videos online, which while that doesn't have the radio feel of a TV channel, it's something at least if a certain video is worth seeing again.
