I never see why people like soda...

I always wonder why people love soda so much. I tried it a few times and can never drink it without making a weird face. I always drink water whenever I have soda at parties and stuff like that. What do you guys think?

Once I stopped drinking soda for a long time, it was certainly hard to go back. I do enjoy carbonated drinks, but commercial sodas just began to taste more and more sugary, guess I was just losing my sweet tooth. Flat soda has never sit right with me though, it just tastes like syrup. If I ever do drink soda nowadays, it will most likely be something of citrus flavor like sunkist or sprite, but even then the decision to drink it over milk or water at the cafeteria is quite sparse.

Depends on what drink it is in specific. I probably haven't had 7up in a few years but only because there was Dr Pepper or another of the darker drinks available at the time. They all have far different tastes and sooth my needs at different times. The caffeine and sugar is also a good way to stay awake on the early shift.

There are some soda's I can't stand though, like Pepsi. I think that disgusting.

Holy shit, I'm the same exact way. If I do happen to drink soda, I have to drink it slow or else the fizz starts to burn the back of my throat. I mean, I have to take it in sips and truthfully, it doesn't taste all that great. It takes me just about the whole day to drink one can of soda, but on occasion I drink the little 1/3 can of soda. And that's diet. Haha.

I have a few friends who are the same way, they say it's mainly because of the carbonation that they don't like, I guess that's pretty reasonable because carbonation never really sits well with me either, but I do enjoy the taste of many sodas.

I do sometimes wonder what someone who had never had soda before would think of it, I'm sure they wouldn't like it, some of them are super sweet, and not to mention it can actually burn in your throat. Really doesn't sound like the best combination.

I guess it is just an acquired taste really. But, it really does go perfectly with some things, for example, Pizza and soda is great, I really have a hard time drinking water with pizza.

It's kind of an acquired taste; like alcohol. At first it is a bit strong and after a while it is really mild and almost tasteless. If you go without it for a while and start again it will be almost insanely sweet and sugary to you.

Dr. pepper is some good shit. Some people like the OP just don't have a taste or tolerance for soda, much like many other beverages. I could drink soda all day, but Ive recently been trying to eat and drink healthier. You should really try that V8 splash.
