I'm pretty sure you can't do it in XP, but how can you take screenshots with transparency and save them as a .png file? Here's the type of thing I'm talking about. Google didn't really help me out with this, I don't need to know, it's just something I've been curious about.

How are screencaps like this taken?

I don't have Vista, but I do know that Alt+Print Screen takes a screenshot of the window that is on top of the rest of the windows, so maybe that will work.

Oh yeah, you'd have to paste the screenshot into a program like Photoshop that can handle transparency. That is, if the Alt+Print Screen thing works in the first place.

As far as I know, MSPaint can't handle transparent layers.

I don't really know what you're talking about but if you don't have vista and want that transparent window you could just download a skin.

Windows Clippings is a program that can capture the alpha channel of a window, enabling the transparent effect in your example.

The catch is, only the trial is free. The full version is $18.

Nah, he's wanting to take a screenshot of a window on his computer while retaining the semi-transparency that Vista has for its windows. If you press the Print Screen key on your keyboard (next to F12 usually) and open up an image editing program (Paint, Photoshop, etc), and click edit > paste, it gives you an exact image of what was on your screen.
