How much are you guys making through the flash api ad revenue? WHats the best rate you can get and what would it take? Screen shots of revenue would be appreciated, or a screen of a the profit graph provided by NG.

Well, you only get the money when you have earnt a far bit of money, eg $50. I am not sure if that amount is correct but you get a certain amount per time your movie is played and morfe when the link has been clicked. That is all I know.

I heard that the Newgrounds Ad system only pays you when NG Users click? If so how can you earn with the NG ads if you host your flash in other sites???

Not true, it works pretty much the same way as Mochiads.

I'm also interested to know... Let's say your game/movie gets 20k views. How many would on average click and how much would you get?

And would mochiads give more profit than NG ads or are NG ads more profitable?

Every case is different, there is no definitive answer so if someone tells you they make $1 per thousand don't expect to make that yourself, it could be more it could be less. The only way to tell what your game is going to make is to release it, in my opinion the best way is to release 2 days, each with the different method - one with mochi, one withnewgrounds - and use that to gauge which is better. It differs for every game though.

Don't expect to make substantial amount if you're not pulling over 500k views though and even then you won't be rich.

http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1080 722 there are some personal experiences in this thread. Also below are some quotes I've taken from other topics:

At 5/11/09 06:25 PM, BoMToons wrote: My experience has been, on average, with a good game, if you distribute it well, around $700-$1000 in the first 2 months, then it slowly fades out over about 6 months until you're making around $10 a month...but there are a few good months in there when you're making ~$150 per month, so you end up making up to $1500 overall.

There's got to be some money in it, 'cos some people make a living. But they're always immense and make tonnes of stuff.

From what I've seen if you want to make good money you'll need to churn out at least a game every few weeks. Big games do well but the real money is in series of smaller games, I think it might of been the super flash bros who said they do better with their zebra series than with their larger games.

Ad revenue is really nice when you start talking multiple games over the course of months to years. If you have a few games each earning a little bit you start earning a lot. Depending on one game to make all your cash is typically not suitable or wise, at least not at this stage in this industry.

Would old fashioned sponsorship be better if you don't release games very often? (Still good games which can be pretty large games too)
