I'm sure they can still access your information. Plus you have to change a bunch of setting first, I don't think many people do that.

Yeah, After reading this thread and the article, I deactivated my facebook account. I wouldn't trust that site with my own toe nail clippings.

That's also another issue that was brought up, they still can give away information to third parties after you deactivate your account. That should change once they overhaul their policies though.
