Here is an 8 frame and 16 frame walkcycle tutorial that I had created sometime back. Im sure it would be very helpful.. also includes FLA files to run though the whole thing once again

All the best

Dont do this, this may seem easy now, but in the long run it will make things much more annoying.

Quick question, are you animating in key frames?
Gtfo animation nub. Come back when you learn what you're talking about.

Yes, I guess you think Richard Williams is an animation "nub", cause those are his words not mine.

And don't get your head up your ass, seeing as your not a very good animator.

a) I was referring to Richard Williams' book. Once he figures out how to get the leg and body movements down, he can work on the arm swing/head movements.

b) I know for a fact I'm better than you.

c) Again, gtfo until you learn what you're talking about.

Bullshit, when you are working like that you don't leave shit blank. He never mentions in his book to work on the legs first.

And what makes you so sure that you are the shit?

Also, you are a fucking elitist prick.

Anyway, to the OP, I think your best bet would be to take your time and really study that tutorial. I know you probably skimmed it because it seemed long, but it has a lot of useful information.

Another option would be to study existing walk cycle footage. In fact, you can even find some on Youtube.

If you 2 are gonna go back and forth just PM each other, unless you have more de-mo posters. otherwise, try to give feedback on the peoples drawings instead f telling them how to learn. because we all know the OP just needs practice and an understanding of keyframing

Some times my "L" key decides not to work.

How long have you been animating?
I've been animating for about 2 years now and I even make very average walk cycles.

Walk cycles are actually extremely difficult and isn't something to jump into right at the start.
Also, listen to ChillyCheese cause he knows what the fuck he's talkin about. ;)

heres why it sucks

1

you diddn't put any effort into the actual character

2

you have to anticipate what a walk cycle will look like, dont just follow a tutorial step by step without looking at what your actually doing

3

i think your lying to yourself when you say animating is your favorite hobby...

i would suggest you take up woodshop :D

4

you really, really need to do some independant art study to get used to drawing walk cycles for different species

dont just look up a random tutorial and expect greatness :P

hope this helped

the post you are reading is unimportant

do you like Popsicles?

i like how you quoted me in your flash yet you didnt follow anything. I said create a new layer and draw below using the same movements. I don't know if your aware but humans move there backs when they move. At least try a little bit if your going to be a dick about it.

I did. And that thing with the dick was just a joke. I quoted you so I could remember ok. I havent animated for 3 years or more like everyone else did. I am trying to make a good walk cycle here. I am not being a dick if I joke on something

Well, dude. I don't suggest starting with full body characters. Try doing sticks first for a walking cycle, and try that out. If you're good at it, keep practicing that style. Then move on to full bodied characters.

Wùt.

That is good but I want to know one more thing. Is it ok to animate more then just walking in flash with 12 fps? I usally animate in about 24 to 30 fps and its useally gun shooting and action animations. Would deaths look really choppy in 12 fps or is it recommended to animate in 30 fps

Everyone knows making a walk cycle is the key to a "blue" animation.
