I've been able to achieve lucid dreaming for the past few weeks steadily now. I've had enough of them to actively take part of my dream, or even change dreams at will.

For those of you who don't know, lucid dreaming is when you take control of your dreams, and you can do whatever you want.

But tonight, I'd like to try something different. I want you guys to tell me what to do.

What should I do in my dream tonight?

Create an alternative life for yourself. I think that might be a cool thing to do if I could lucid dream, I could go back to it every night and get two lives for the price of one... and one of those lives is completely in my control.

I've never been able to do it.

I know HOW to do it, but it's very uncomfortable and I can't stay awake.

Yeah, that's always infinitely fun. However, it gets kind of repetitive for me.

Do you use the sleep paralysis method? I've been using a variation of that for a while, which works much faster and is a lot more comfortable.

You can train yourself to do it, just like I've done. It's really an incredible experience, that everybody should try.

Yeah, that's always infinitely fun. However, it gets kind of repetitive for me.

I don't lucid dream often, and when I do it's never really planned. I like a mix of lucid and unexpected dreams. And my favorite part of lucid dreaming is realizing that I am lucid dreaming... because my sub-conscious hates when I figure out I'm dreaming, it usually tries to trick me into thinking that it's not a dream. Usually there will be a person who says, "Oh no this isn't a dream at all, this all makes perfect sense if you think about it." or, "Dreaming, whoa man, your freaking out... this isn't a dream you're just tripping on acid." and my favorite excuse was when I ran into myself in a dream and figured that was impossible and that I must have been dreaming, but he used this excuse, "I'm actually from the future." and I believed him. Than he laughed at me and I woke up.

The reason I think my subconscious hates it when I lucid dream has to do with when I was younger and if I realized I was lucid dreaming I'd tell the other people in my dream that when I woke up they'd die. This upset them quite a bit... so I like to play tricks on myself while I sleep I guess. I don't really understand how that works, but it's quite a bit of fun.

A lot of trial and error is involved, it took me a couple weeks to make a system that works.

You have to wake up from your dream at the right times, usually through the use of an alarm. Otherwise, you'll forget you ever had the dream. When you wake up, you also have to very carefully remember your dream. Upon waking up is the most times I've lost my dreams.

Some sites tell you to use a dream journal, which, to me, seems like bullshit.

Basically, you lay very still until you trick your body to fall asleep before your mind does. You can't move at all, or else it won't work.

This makes it so you can't move, and it helps for some people.

Explain.

It's a form of meditation my Dad taught me. You lie very still, but you very actively imagine moving, like running or swimming or something. This tricks your body into falling asleep faster, usually because it's like what you'd be doing in a dream. The trick is still to not move, though.

There are a lot of guides online that tell you how, but you really have to try to see what works for you.

Also, you guys haven't been making a whole lot of suggestions.

Pills? No, no medication or drugs are needed. It just takes a lot of practice.

Okay, then. Good night.

I'll keep in mind all of the two suggestions I'd been given, and I'll post about the dream tomorrow.

If anybody is still interested by then, I'll write up a lucid dreaming guide on my userpage.

See you guys tomorrow :D

Let it run itself and take the backseat. Seriously, you can daydream if you want to control what happens in your thoughts. Sleep is a time for switching off, there is no way that lucid dreaming can be a positive thing. It is unnatural, it is ungodly and I firmly believe that it will kill you in the end.

I've had a few lucid dreams, but what pisses me off is lately, I've realized I've been in a dream, but I just want to wake up instead of realizing I could fuck some shit up.
Also, about a week ago, I knew I was in a scary dream, but I still couldn't wake up as hard as I tried.
Hopefully tonight I can have a lucid dream.

I love lucid dreams. In the past, my dreams end a short while after I realize it's a dream. Recently, I could stay asleep and control them until I wanted to wake up. Awesome.

Every single forum I've been to, there has been a Lucid dreaming topic. 'Course, the other were significatnly more substantial.

I achieve Lucid Dreams by driving myself to exhaustion. Since I'm always exhausted anyway, its not a big leap.

I was able to achieve lucid dreaming tonight.

I recalled something about a second life, but that was pretty much all I could remember about the thread. But then I decided fuck that and I went to Mars.

Mars was fun for a while, and I spent a lot of time jumping up cliffs because of the reduced gravity.

Shortly after that, there was something about a machine and the atmosphere began turning blue. It was actually pretty cool seeing half the atmosphere blue and the other half red. Even though it was in a dream, it still looked incredible.

That was pretty much it. I actually spend a lot of my lucid dreams away from Earth, making them all amazing to me.

It happens during your REM phases of your sleep, where your brain activity is increased anyway. The only difference is that you can actively control what happens in your dream, as opposed to just watching.

That's usually my trigger for starting a lucid dream, whenever I see myself I realize that I must be dreaming.

Sometimes the dream continues in the third person, but I can still control everything else.

I mean that you have to slowly bring yourself up to doing it frequently, on top of using the methods for falling asleep.

Sometimes somebody will wake me up during the best parts of my dream. Then I get sad. :(

It's always funny seeing these threads where people are talking about lucid dreaming like it's this great new concept where you have to train yourself to become a lucid dreamer and blah blah blah. I've had lucid dreams fairly regularly for as long as I can remember, sometimes for several nights in a row, and I've never made any attempt to 'train' myself to be like that.

It took me a long time to get into a pattern that would work for me. For people who can't find any methods that work, there is going to be some work involved in trying to make it a regular occurrence, but it's different for everyone. Everyone experiences them naturally, but some people, like you, just naturally have them often.

A lucid dream sounds extremely fun.

So I just lay down, think about what I want to dream about without moving, then while I'm dreaming, I have to notice something out of the ordinary and say "Oh! One second that's not possible, I must be dreaming!"?

What would I do to control the dream? Do I just think about what I want to happen?

Prepare for unforeseen consequences.
