I am so technologically advanced that I do not jailbreak my electronics, because stealing is wrong.

Also, I don't have anything much interesting to show because of it. :O

So... Let me get this straight...

Everyone bashes Windows.
Apparently, everyone bashes Apple too...
So that leaves us with Linux (and some other crappy OSes).

Something doesn't quite add up here...

Having it jailbroken and then using the five icons everywhere makes it look cluttered ...
Also Jailbreaking is not stealing anything. They're apps that apple didn't want, basically.
I want my iPod jailbroken though...

No, Apple wanted it to be illegal and I think they are going to court about it and there are a bunch of people saying it shouldn't be considered illegal. (unless that already happened?)

But it still makes no sense to me why it should be considered illegal unless someone wants to enlighten me...

look: I changed my sig again.

That's like saying you can have sex with your pre-teen daughter, just because it's your daughter.

Seriously though, a lot of hardware/software have terms of agreement and shit you agree to when you buy the product. There's all sorts of restrictions in there.

No, its like saying Linux is illegal because installing it is against the Terms of Service of the computer company!

Actually, its worse. Its like saying that its illegal programs on your Mac that weren't made by Apple!

I was commenting on your general statement, not the fact that jailbreaking an iPhone is legal or not.

Your statement insinuated that you can copy and distribute Windows' or Mac's OS because you purchased it. Which is of course not true.

There are restrictions to what you can do with stuff you own, and most of the time, they have good grounds for those restrictions.

It is NOT illegal to hack this. It will certainly void your, warranty, but you paid for the iPhone/Pod, so you can do whatever you want with it. However, performing illegal actions with it, such as emulators, is illegal. There is nothing the law can do about it, it is just against the terms of your warranty. If this was in fact illegal, Apple would have already gone after developers such as Redsn0w. Don't you think if we can access that information, Apple could too? Common sense is wonderful thing to have.

Whats so illegal about jailbreaking an Ipod? It's not a torrent or anything, just third-party software that has extra stuff you can't get with a normal ipod. What's so bad about that? Yea, nothing at all, Appple is just mad that their equipment isn't perfect. I jailbroke my psp and don't ever recall sony crying about it.
