where are you going and what are you majoring in? are you going to be yourself or do you want to start with a new name to yourself? i'm going to the school of visual arts, so like in most art schools you'll probably find a lot of sloppy dressed kids, most people won't be wearing anything expensive or preppy, so i was thinking...what if i DID? what if i dress like a prep completely weird and out of place, and keep dressing like that for weeks, until its time to show my art, which is usually very creepy, laughing clowns with knives sticking in them sort of creepy. That'll scare em!! :D my options are limitless.

I'm going to a community college for my first two years while I listen to my friends bitch and moan about "I have to pay all this off when I get out, I don't have a job and I make no money :(" I have a part time job and will be much less in the hole than them when I get out.

Nah, they renamed the school so everyone is transitioning, and they do that thing where it's just three big letters instead, like USF or FSU or ASS.

What is your goal in computer science? Becoming a programmer of games or other software or studying the abstract topics, such as complexity algorythms and AI?

I really don't know yet. I think I want to be a software programmer. I am not going to really choose a strict path yet though until I get used to college. AI seems like it would be interesting but really there is more of a market for programmers.

So many people going into game design. I bet less than 1% of you guys will actually move on to design games, while the others all end up as everyday software programmers. Computer Science is a hell of a major, I hope you guys know what you're getting into.
As for me, I'm going for my MBA, so yeah, technically I'm doing college all over again.

In my personal opinion, universities are best suited for theoretical programming. A decent university also instills the abstract in its students and makes them focus this area. Higher education (non univ college, or watchacallit) tends to be more pragmatic, providing internship and focus on daily life applications and programming exercises. At least where I live, I would direct those with an ambition in software development to non univ and those with a taste for abstract programming to university education.
(general remark for CS ambitioneers)

I'm going to Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and I'm going to major in Traditional Animation. I dunno, I don't want to be a fake faggot so I'll probably just be myself, maybe a little less awkward and open to things though. Also Sawke, good luck having to deal with Kirbopher! :/

That's probably the case, there's like tens upon thousands of people that want to game design now for some reason.
*Just wait until I come back in 4 years with my, "my major is a lie!!!1" post.

Also here, I'm curious to what is your ambition? What kind of physicist do you aspire to be? Do you know what the major options are at that univ? (solid state, fluids, acoustics, theoretic, semi-conducter, astrophysics,...)
